72 yr old widow in Mazatlan. I feel safer her than San Francisco. I walk my dog at night, drink on beaches, and feel fine. Some areas one avoids, as in all countries.

There's no difference between this cities in mexico and Chicago south side and nobody says anything about it of Chicago I wonder why??🤔

No it is not safe. Other countries do not like Americans & your rights are not protected there which means they can do anything to you.

I travel to Southern Baja every year for camping and fishing, never stopping before San Vincente. Don't drive new and shiny, speak the language. The people are the very helpful. Respect and humor have made my 31 winters enjoyable. This report saddens me mucho

Tourist areas are usually fine to go to, millions of people visit Mexico every year but there are horrible random cases like this one.
