Black cop fired after intervening on chokehold: I lost everything

The incident happened in November 2006. At the time, Officer Cariol Horne had served 19 of the 20 years needed to receive her pension, a spokesperson for Horne told CNN.
But Horne was fired for intervening and did not qualify for her pension, the city said.
"The message was sent that you don't cross that blue line and so some officers -- many officers don't," said Horne in an interview with CNN's Brianna Keilar.

Officer Horne just won her lawsuit and will receive her pension. This is a start but it took over 10 years...

I went to high school with her. She's is an absolutely standup beautiful soul. They totally railroaded her. The white male cop got his retirement and got his pension. I hope she finally gets justice. Wrong on sooooo many levels.

As of a recent April 2021 media report Cariol has been awarded her pension which is because she never gave up on herself. She lost a tremendous amount & she saved a person’s life from what appears to be brutal police beating. Cariol did the right thing. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👑

This female officer was not a punk and bully like most officers. She had beliefs, and she stood by them...she values the human life.

I really hope the following: 1. They state that she was fired unlawfully. 2. She gets her pension. 3. And if they really want to do the right thing: pay her her lost income.
