triangle Strategy is my favourite game ever. The choices are genuinely difficult

Great list. Some other games that would be top choices for me are Night in the Woods, Crosscode, VA-11 Hall-A, Spiritfarer, Hades and Narita Boy, but there are so many more. This really is a great time to be a gamer.

Square's HD2D suite is amazing. I hope they don't stop making them

Wow, great list! I also rate Triangle Strategy high as well. The story can feel slow at times, but its a slow burn with some great payoffs with every ending.

Great to see F-Zero 99 - it's my most played game of 2023!! My only criticism is that the skill ceiling is very, very high now and it's really difficult to win races and GPs now.

My top 5 would probably be 1. Dragon Quest 11 - First Mainline DQ game and the reason I bought a Switch 2. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince - I played many DQM games as a kid and this one is an excellent and surprising entry after many years of not getting official western translations 3. Triangle Strategy - Its Game of Thrones politics in a tactical game, i managed to get the golden ending blind which is pretty pog. 4. Super Smash Bros Ultimate -Its the staple game for the Switch imo, it turned nintendo directs into full events as even if the firect didn't reveal much, it was still worth it for the new character. The game was a staple in any gathering. 5. Live A Live - The experimental chapter system, fun music, interesting story and a vibrant take on the HD2D artstyle made this game unique and refreshing while also really easy to just pick up and play at anytime. Honorable Mention goes to Pokemon Scarlet because the story and open world setting really carried it hard. AREA 0 was an incredible part of the game and its such a shame that they refused to let it cook for a little bit more.

I have been playing RPG's for a while. I played DQ1 on NES as well as FF the same way. So a few years back, when i started having problems at work, and was literally losing my interest in everything, including hobbies, i knew something was wrong. I was in target and picked up DQ11. I tried it, but just couldnt get into it. Shelved it for a bit and tried again several months later. This time it took, and i was very hooked. I realized that something i missed, was being transported to another world, where life wasnt nearly as complicated, bad guys were easy to spot, and there was the possibility of relationships, even virtual ones. That being said, i truly truly enjoyed the adventure that DQ11 took me on, as not only was it enjoyable, but helped me through a difficult time in life as well.

Really enjoyed this list because it wasn't what you expect to see. It's YOUR personal list and I love that!

This is a wonderful list. OP1, OP2, and Triangle Strategy are replayable for me and absolutely beautiful. I agree on the Sea of Stars review, and 100% got the nostalgic feeling of playing a Chrono Trigger-style game of my 90s gaming growth. Well said on all parts.

Octopath Traveller II is becoming one of my favorite RPG's ever. It checks all the boxes and I really haven't found anything I dislike about it. Interesting choice for Triangle Strategy. I'm having a hard time finding a strategy RPG to get me into the genre. I thought FF Tactics would've been a good intro to it but, I hated every minute of it and been avoiding them as a result.

I hope you do the same kind of video with only remastered game for the Switch, there's so more great choice so a top 10 won't be easy to do 😅

Like you said there are over 4500 games on the switch.....so any game you pick as #1 can and might be controversial so I wouldn't even think too much about it. I know this is way off topic from the list. But have you played baldur gate 3? Arguably becoming one of my fav rpg game of all time.

Nice picks, personally I rather took chained echoes over sea of stars and get rid of zelda totk and put there astral chain...

Sea of stars is on top of my list of games I need to play. I’m on my third play through of triangle strategy, beat octopath 1 and 2 once each, stuck on final boss of dragon quest 11. Basically great list. Missing bravely default 2 and persona 5 royal. But I guess you needed some non-rpgs too :p
