We paid a lot of attention to the audio recording quality for this video so to get the mist from the video we suggest using either a very playback system or a good set of headphones with a smart phone or tablet. Laptop speakers wont give you anything like what has been recorded here.

I experienced Harbeth at this show and it was by far the most natural and enjoyable sound at the event. Made me re-calibrate what I thought good hifi was. These will be the last speakers I ever buy.

Thank you Terry, I can't express enough how much respect I have for Alan Shaw, he is a true gem! I have owned every Harbeth with the exception of the 40s & funny enough the Compact 7.2s were my first but the monitor 30.2s are by far my favorite & still own them as my small reference monitor. All the 40th anniversary finishes are stunning but of coarse typical British craftsmanship at its best. Thanks again for the real treat & your great channel.

Alan is one of the most important people in HIFI today.

The Harbeths were beautiful sounding speakers at the show. Easily near my own personnel top of best in show. Kudos and Canton were excellent as well. Great videos 👍
-
Impressive dem Terry , I love the fact a product has such a well defined history , and can be tweaked oh so slightly 40 plus years later , the speakers sounded intimate yet detailed Dave Brubeck the perfect vehicle to sound them out .
-
Shaw very clear and articulate.

I attended a show in Melbourne Aust a few years back, looking to hear some Sonus Faber's. By chance walked into the Harbeth room! I could not get my hands on a pair of HL5 plus quick enough .

Lovely speaker/amp combo and a pleasure to see a modest setup without all the BS with elephant trunk-thick cables and risers everywhere.

Finally this sound really gives a decent impression of what the speakers sound like. Unlike most video's made with crappy noise. Here you are not distracted by the 'toiletroom' bounicing of the walls sounds. The sound is so well recorded that you can even hear the zippers of the raincoats from the people who are going to sit in this room to listen to the speakers. So there is a reasonably 'neutral' realistic sound of this room. So you can hear the speakers how they sound on the spot without any disturbance soundwise, exept for some minor crowdnoises, people talking, coming in etc. You still get a proper sound that reflects how the speakers sound. Its not perfect but better than 90% of video's that have the soundquality as a theme. Only thing is ....the speakers sound great but if they are thát great you have to compare them next to other sets in the same conditions of course. But I have the first impression that these speakers are very good, especially with Take Five....wonderfull.

Great informative conversation!😁😉

May I ask which model was the Hegel amp used with these speakers?
-
Wow.
-
What stands are they playing with?
-
Up to the usual ultra high standards. You can’t go wrong with this brand.
-
Alan did quite an advertisement for Hegel there :-)
-
You can't clip a pre-amp input by turning the attenuation of the pre-amp up or down. Only by increasing the input signal to the pre-amp could you clip the "input stage".
-
Was Dirac used in the Harbeth room?
-
he may have sold me on hegel :)
-
Anyone know what Hegel amp is powering the 7’s?
