One thing about Henry is how he is always simultaneously effortlessly badass, brilliantly intelligent and adorably nerdy.

A few years ago, I sold a rare promo pressing of an Iggy Pop album to Henry. It was such a cool moment to see the name Henry Garfield pop up on the mailing label to an address in LA, and realize who the buyer was.
  • ‘Iggy, now unencumbered by vocal duties’ 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Henry’s impersonation of Iggy Pop talking is spot on. And that “confront a candle” line. Golden.
  • "I love the guy so much, I want to kick his ass". That is the best definition of punk I can think of.

You can tell Henry pushing Iggy to do his most energetic & wild show is one of his favourite memories… Iggy probably enjoyed the challenge too.

I've just spent the last 21mins the most entertained I've ever been while on YouTube or pretty much anywhere in life. Henry Rollins is always amazing and ever entertaining in all that he does, but to hear him telling his story of his quest to annihilate Iggy Pop (who is the ruler of the universe in my eyes) was GOLD. I've never laughed so hard at Henry and his antics. And his impersonation of Iggy on stage was spot on! I'm absolutely certain my future holds for me another viewing of this video!

There is a video of the concert in Finland. Iggy tells the security to let the people on stage around the 10th minute, when the band plays Passenger riff. Lust for life starts when the stage is already crowded. And the flowers for the Cure show are there. "Iggy Pop Provinsirock Seinäjoki Finland 10 jun 1996". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GsGuzbnkw0

Henry is so right..... Down On The Street is such an amazingly primitive yet spectacularly beautiful sounding song. I'd pick it as the Stooges best tune.
  • @NikoFrederiko.
Henry's clear-headed, healthy, sober passionate energy is what everyone wishes their "highs" we're like.

His Iggy impression is outstanding lmao

I saw Iggy and The Stooges live in about 2010 and Iggy was still an absolute force of nature despite being in his sixties.

this is prime era Rollins spoken word. His shows were so strong between the era of 'The Boxed Life' and 'Think Tank'. I admire his constant adapting (the more politically-focused end-of-Bush-era shows, and then the Obama period), which he kind of had to do. I saw him in a small venue just before the more political talk shows took hold - about 2003/04: it was unforgettable.

Rollins is such a great guy - he's a true fan as well as a performer.
  • I used to have this on VHS, probably been more than 15 years since I've seen it. Still kills me. Thanks for posting it :)
  • Everyone thinks of the musicians that California and New York breeds. But, Detroit/Michigan musicians have a special type of insanity that is amazing
  • @ugmodude
That's such a great Iggy impression. He's like kindly old uncle iggy until he gets onstage and morphs into a level 10 master demon
  • My God this was masterful… I’ve always appreciated Henry’s work but this was an exceptional performance! The man is an amazing storyteller 👍
