Arceus felt more like a breath of fresh air for the franchise than scarlet and violet did and it had less performance issues. And I connected to the characters and story more, the highlight being the part with the growlithe
  • Arceus was the first game since I have bought since USUM, convinced me to buy a switch and all, it’s the most fun I personally have had on a Pokémon game since I have been old enough to judge what is good and not good. Has its bugs but deserves a lot of respect, helped a nearly 30 year old live out the Pokémon hunter dream from my childhood

Loved arceus. Definitely my favorite pokemon game. It's Story, characters, and quests were really good. Plus with sinnoh being my favorite region, I loved seeing its history

Legends Arceus had awesome catching mechanics + the game went more smoothly. I love PLA
  • Arceus hands down. S/V is awesome and having a blast but PLA reignited my love for a series I’ve loved played and watched for 25 years since I was 10 years old. I still go back to it to shiny hunt. I love that game.
  • If they just brought the catching mechanic, shiny sound, and Frostbite instead of Freeze status condition Scarlet and Violet would be great. Also being able to turn off animations to speed up the battle would be nice.

Volo would not be compared to Geeta. Volo would be compared to the AI Professor battle at the end

Arcesus despite the linear mission set up break up the basic repetition of Pokémon league. Past version of sinnoh and meeting character ancestors is a breath of fresh air in an nostalgic way. Pokémon are an actual threat to you as the trainer and the Pokédex mission push for a new way of playing.
  • I was initially going for Violet because Miraidon looks so cool. But then I saw Koraidon run and thought "that's a meme worthy dragon bike" and it won me over. So the graphical issues of SV didn't bother me that much. The main things that did annoy me are the times the game puts me in the same place as another pokemon WHILE battling a pokemon, particularly Tauros and Cyclizar when I'm shiny hunting them.
  • In terms of story, that's a tough one for me. Arceus felt kind of like a story that was being told to us. From the moment it began, you could feel a sense of tension. It certainly wins in terms of atmosphere. SV, on the other hand, releases the tension a bit and is definitely a story we're experiencing but it's also given us a lot to ruminate on, especially in regards to the DLC. It also made me feel more attached to the characters.
  • For me I personally I prefer Legends Arceus for only two reasons, free throwing PokeBalls (literally the one feature I wanted in the games for years) and faster battling animations (now this doesn’t mean battle system as I’m honestly neutral about both of them but just imagine the speed & smoothness of entering and leaving and actually battling in Legends Arceus, now think of that but the battle system is like how Scarlet & Violet is. If they did that in Scarlet & Violet then it could’ve made a good argument for me to prefer that over Legends Arceus but it didn’t). The other stuff about those two games I’m personally neutral about, even though I can make logical decisions on noticing which game is better at certain things my overall enjoyment and honestly what I care about is just neutral

What would be cool is if they added the same mass release mechanic as Legends arecus. As in mass releasing a bunch of pokemon hatched from eggs and then receiving supplies for tms in return
  • I'm a casual player. I care not for rank or online battles. So I care more about what I get in game, or in this case: Post-Game Legends: Volo Story/Fight. Legendary Hunting. Completing the Dex to fight Arceus S/V: 1 time rematch of Gym. School Tournament, and the 4 Ruin Pokemon. Yeah I got more enjoyment out of Arceus as I got something out of the Pokedex rather than just a shiny charm: I got to fight God.

Scarlet and Violet are the first games.... I didn't have fun in. It's pretty boring other than shiny hunting. Legends Arceus however is an addiction! Definitely the first game I've felt alive and immersed since Pokemon Go in 2016. Just being able to chuck Pokeballs manually just feels right! Additionally, alphas create a horror-ish vibe to the game if one isn't careful. Also the shiny sound is pure dopamine and ear candy! Overall, Legends Arceus feels more complete despite fewer Pokemon.

I think the let's go feature is pretty interesting and it doesn't take as long as you'd think, 3 laps around the little town before mesagoza (maybe 5 mins) will evolve those mons and because of that I was able to get a level 19 pawmot and a really early brambleghast that both helped out a ton in my hardcore nuzlocke, plus I'd argue it's better than friendship evolutions tbh which take way longer and are super irritating to track.

2022 was a wild time to be a fan, started on a high note with LA & ended on low with SV.
  • I really enjoyed both games. However I feel like scarlet/violet have better replay value. Legends I'm hesitant to restart because of all the required catching where in violet and scarlet I can prepare and send over a team to use and it doesn't matter if I catch everything or not.

Story wise, Scarlett violet are much better than legends arceus but gameplay experience wise pla is much better than scarlet violet

I like how we can choose how to catch Pokémon, the quest that brig us more into the world and with a lot more interact. Also, we all probably want the less stress of having sparkles.
