Mike, I have been laid-up for a couple months. I discovered your videos at the start of this. You have become a comfortable voice in my day, and I very much appreciate your work. It's fascinating, and very much makes my day.
  • The ice on the gentle swell in the channel is wonderful. I grew up near the Fox river in northeastern wisconsin seeing it freeze over by December and into January. The winters seem to be getting warmer year by year.

I love that people show up to see the ships even in the rain, snow, and ice.

That ICE! I live at the top of the Inland Waterway, here in NJ & have most of my life. Very rarely have I seen ice in “the Canal”, it’s exciting when it happens. Snow was originally predicted for us from the NY TV stations but Philadelphia says, here at the “Shore” we will have rain. What an exciting video. I’d like to learn about the Indigenous People of the Duluth area, are there any Monuments or Statues to see? I so enjoy when you do a “Walkabout” and show us the City, Thanks and stay warm.⛄️💨

This is John, Ruth is my wife. Louisville is 52 degrees and raining. I spent one winter in Duluth; and that was enough for me.
  • Thanks Mike for braving the cold so we can enjoy these awesome ships together. It’s much appreciated. What a cool community!

Mike if you get a chance this winter give us a tour of where some of the ships dock for the winter. Excellent video!

Good to see snow on the ground. Just a dusting here in Fort Wayne. Loving the videos.

Fantastic video Mike. Doesn’t get better than the PRT going through an icy canal with a light snow falling. Thanks for sharing and being out in the elements for us.
  • Great winter video. That is the winter I remember after new years. Snow, ice and well below freezing temps are normal for early January of most every year. We are planning a trip to southeastern New Mexico to see the desert in winter. The southwest desert is wonderful in winter. It may hit freezing or below in winter. There may even be snow. But, it melts very fast with days only in the 60s, 50s, and 40s. So many snow birds leave the north to come to the southwest for the winter of sun and warmer snow and ice free living. The only treacherous areas are the great divide on or near Interstate 10. It can close with heavy snows in the winter. If closed, it will be plowed and cleared very fast. It is amazing the huge number to trucks on the I-10 all year around. Ships move cargo on the great lakes. But, diesel trucks move heavy cargo inside and across the USA. If you have never seen it the Interstate 8 east of San Diego is spectacular through the Cuyamaca mountains. It is only about 80 or so miles east of San Diego and the I-8 is a wonderful road from Tucson to San Diego.

Would love to see the town and areas. I'm a new boat lover, and have thoroughly enjoyed watching the boats come through. Here in Oklahoma, we get excited over flurries, the kind of snow that looks like a sprinkle of salt on the roofs.

Mike, I live in SoCal, but like you, my heart is there in Duluth. I am recovering from a total knee replacement, and your videos are a big help in keeping my spirits up. I'd love to see a video of the city of Duluth during the off season. City lights in the snow at night are wonderful, too. Best wishes! Beautiful ship video!
  • @firewalkerp
Would be awesome to see some of the sights around Duluth.
  • @bethparsons
I missed the Live...but WOW! That was awesome to see! Thank you so much for sharing and all that you do! Wow!
  • @bobpurs
Missed the Live Mike but enjoyed watching the videos. Never miss a chance to watch the PRT. 👍✊

In the 50's my parents had a Mom & Pop motel & gas station. We'd come to shop & get supplies in Duluth. The Bridge was the only way into Duluth. Seemed like every tume we came the Bridge was up and we'd have to wait. Good Memories!
  • Thank you for this very great Livestream Mike. Beautiful Duluth with Snow and the Queen of Great Lakes.❤👍👍
