Tally Hall may not be the biggest band ever, but the people who do know them are completely convinced that they are the greatest of all time.
  • @gifdar
God I would've been insufferable if I found Tally Hall as a teenager
  • @CiggyRat
"Ruler of Everything was the first complete song I wrote" Damn. My man Joe had a very very good start in songwriting. Imagine going "Imma try to write a serious song" one day for the first time and come up with that masterpiece

i cant beleive zubin got a medical degree, got married, had two children, worked on the front lines of the pandemic and even grew a full beard all just to bring us all the final evolution of the natural ketchup
  • To me, TallyHall is a cautionary tale that no matter how talented, genius, and unique you are, you still need an unbelievable amount of luck to succeed.

I honestly feel the worst for Joe. The band and making music seems to be such a big part of his life and I think he missed the band the most. I remember seeing a video of him singing spring and storm at a sonic and seeing him play tally halls song all alone breaks my heart.

this had me going "wait, they made that too?!" multiple times... tally hall are that same breed of neil cicierega, they make things you didn't even know were made by the same people if you don't think to look deeper... super good video! now i think i want to listen to every song tally hall and every member ever made lol

The fact that Rick Lax, the infamous Facebook life hack “comedian” is somehow intertwined in this storyline is INSANE
  • @JoKaiGonZo
Tally Hall is the only musical act, other than Dan Black, that makes me wish I was born 10 years earlier so I could have appreciated their work right as they were on the rise.
  • Watching this video is like the final step to becoming a true Tally Hall fan
  • @gegnabean
I am absolutely losing my mind over the fact that Good Day is in the Sims
  • Well Jargon, after witnessing the wonderful fruits of all your hard work, I have only one thing to say: Raisins™

I was introduced to Tally Hall (literally) through a couple of friends I attended a community college with. They were big fans and invited me to Tally Hall's fairwell concert and the fans threw the band a pizza party in this weird empty lot near the venue. It felt like the most janky and shady pizza party I'd ever been to. Then the band arrived. We sat in a circle on concrete waiting for the pizza to arrive. I talked to Ross, Rob, and Andrew about my upcoming visit to Australia to meet a guy I'd met online. They wished me luck. We laughed at each other's jokes. We took goofy pictures. Bora got involved in the conversation. We met other fans. And I felt so very out of the loop. I'd still only heard their music in the car on the way there. I just never turn down a pizza party and a concert, and I knew my friends had good taste, so I was along for the ride. The band told me to keep in touch and let them know how Australia went. Then they played. And I was forever disappointed that that was their farewell concert and I was so goddamn late to the game. I adore their music. I adore the music individual members put out after the fact. I kept in touch very broadly and generally, but I wouldn't have any clue if they even remember why they have this rando on their Facebooks congratulating them on their life's accomplishments. Either way, I'm so glad to have that memory, I'm glad this exists so I get to learn even more about this band I absolutely adore. Haiku, Just Apathy, Good Day, Welcome to Tally Hall, &, Two Wuv... songs that forever populate my every road trip, and all from this one concert I wasn't that invested in and later wished I had been. So, thank you to Tally Hall and to Vince and Dwight (the people who brought me along for the ride) and thank you to Just Jargon and Coz Baldwin. I woke up this morning and put on the Tally Hall shirt I bought that night, started straightening my hair, and saw this existed because Dwight posted it on Facebook. I'm beyond hyped. TL;DR: Tally Hall doesn't get nearly enough recognition....
  • So someone commented on the variations on a cloud lyrics video and said “One day I want a Tally Hall movie/documentary with this as the end credits” and you did exactly that! That’s amazing!
  • @icedmorning7610
What Joe said 1:14:30 about the albums is pretty much exactly what happened. The first album (Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum) was abstract, the second album (Good & Evil) had more logic to it, and the (closest thing to a) third album (Hawaii: Part II) had an entire narrative to it, being a sort of musical. Crazy.
  • @DwightTheGreat
I'm honored that this doc begins with footage I shot, and that so much of my footage was used throughout. When I first saw Banana Man on albinoblacksheep in '04 I would have never guessed this band would become so important to me, yet here we are. I appreciate your dedication in making this incredibly comprehensive documentary. Keep up the good work.

There’s something really funny about the “aaa” in the Ruler of Everything demo
  • @docmcmoth
It should be worth noting that as of 7/25/2022, Coz Baldwin has passed away. Sorry to anyone who found out this way
  • As much as I would love a third album, “Fate of the Stars” is probably one of the best finale-goodbye songs I’ve ever heard.
