The final battle of Avengers Endgame was a tragic waste of potential, in this video essay, I ask why.

Hey Guys, I just wanted to say thank you for the incredible support over the past few months and especially to my patrons who help to keep this channel afloat, and not to mention we've nearly hit half a million subs which is something I honestly never thought I'd reach :D I'm a lazy bugger however, so I have nothing planned for reaching the milestone, however I do have a video on how to make a video essay coming out very soon so keep your eyes peeled for that. In the video I'll say my controversial opinions on the video essay community and also give advice to anyone who wants to become a video essayist. It just so happens its release may coincide with my 500k milestone so... actually yeah, that's my half a million special, my entirely planned one. (looks side to side suspiciously) Anyway, thanks a ton to every last one of you for sticking around, and thanks to audible for sponsoring today's video. Please do check them out by clicking my link as when you do, it encourages audible to work with me again which makes my income more steady, and thus my future on YouTube far more hopeful :D (TL;DR please click my audible link so I can stave off from getting a real job) Have a great day, - Henry

It's why Infinity War's final battle felt even more tense, because everyone was serious as hell. Endgame's final battle, although awesomely epic, was pure fanservice and had no stakes at all.

The idea of Hulk going into a rage over Natashas supposed death within the battle wouldve been amazing
  • Watching this made me realise that the Infinity War battle at wakanda, and even the one at Titan, really checked all the boxes you mentioned. There was a tangible goal- protect vision till the mind stone is taken out. To do that, they needed to defend the lab. there were moments of despair- people breaking into shuri's lab, Thanos managing to get the time stone, thanos's army overpowering our heroes. But there were also moments of hope- wanda joining the fight, thor's epic entrance. overall, just a much better show than Endgame's shoddy and fan-servicey battle

The children of thanos are the most down played characters i have ever seen

Marvel wasted an opportunity to show Peter Quill finally back on earth after avoiding it for all this time, but he says nothing.

The most underwhelming factor was having 2014 Thanos as the "ultimate bad guy" in the 3rd act, instead of 2023 Thanos; the stakes didn't feel as high and personal as they should've been.
  • I felt like they haven't wrote much about Doctor Strange in the final fight since he was stuck on a single task: preventing the water from getting to our heroes (essentially submerging the battlefield). But with Strange's ability and intellectual prowess, even after being dusted for 5 years, I think that would not stop him from coming up with a solution to the problem without having to stay on it and possibly missing out on the fight.

Doesn't relate to the video at all, but what I find funny is that the infinity stones affect the UNIVERSE I mean imagine being an alien chilling in Andromeda and then your whole family dies because some big grape dude in the Milky Way had some magic rocks.

My problem is that Thanos simply a raid boss in this movie. I much prefer the mastermind Thanos

I didn't really like Nebula at first, but the more I understand her story and trauma. I feel really bad for her and appreciate how complex and in depth she is. For mostly being a supporting character she's really been given a good amount of development and I've come to really appreciate her

That alternative version of the fight is genuinely such a good idea that I felt all the emotions just by listening to it. It’s such a powerful idea that sent shivers down my spine that I would rather see than the actual climax of Endgame. And it’s sad that it’ll never be on screen 😭
  • @KundelX
One of the most significant things wasted was Drax and his backstory
  • @jamesgatz4490
You'll get a better climax when you FIX THIS DAMN DOOR
  • @DaveUnreally
I’ve gotta agree. Fight scenes need a story. Also, I was disappointed the hulk didn’t get his sweet redemption and slap Thanos around some. I don’t care how skilled a fighter you are, you’re not out fighting the hulk unless it’s to aid the story in a certain direction

Holy shit I've finally found someone puts it into words. The hollow feeling I felt watching that final battle is finally explained! Thank you sir.
  • Infinity war is an incredible movie, endgame has incredible moments. That’s how I’ve always thought of it.
  • You know what I actually feel like Hawkeye had more screen time than professor hulk in the final battle.
  • The 3 v 1 of thanos vs the avengers felt like the actual final battle cause it felt like he could’ve killed any of them at any point
