NZders are pretty down to earth. Don’t matter who they are, they’re easy going. Glad we got to come along 😊

I lived downstairs from that lady in 2012 when they started building their house. Good people and the area is down to earth for the amount of wealth, tbh.

The woman who invited you in to her home is my mum. She could have talked a lot longer about her achievements, she’s such a hard worker and has accomplished a lot in her life. She’s also a great mother and I look up to her a lot.

As a kiwi (islander from South Auckland) this video inspired me.... It's so much better at the top! Compared to poverty and struggle. I hope other people get that same message.
  • @onibakulive
Great video. The two people at the end that opened their homes proves why Kiwis are some of the best people in the world.

Problem with New Zealand is that everything is so dam expensive

This is actually a great insight into how normal and misunderstood “Rich” people are in New Zealand. Everyone thinks they’re stuck up assholes who are detached from the reality of everyday life. They’re actually just pretty normal people with high standards who work hard to get ahead.
  • As someone who owns a home in NZ, they’re overpriced to begin with. A tiny crap box is $500k.
  • @sebprovision
Very cool, guys. And personally, I found both of those home owners and what they had to say inspiring.

I worked in Herne Bay when I was a student. I worked at the after school care program at Bayfield Primary so I got to meet a lot of these parents … they were all so lovely and easy going. I’m a Polynesian from West Auckland and they never once made feel like I was out of place. My grandmothers house was only a few minutes away in Grey Lynn so I was familiar with the area and have seen the gentrification over the decades but it’s nice to know the people are good people.
  • I live 10 houses away from the first lady who let you in to her house. All of the neighbours I have met are very nice, down to earth people and love to stop and chat. Herne Bay is a great community that looks out for each other in my opinion.
  • Left NZ 2 months ago for a new chapter with my wife in the Philippines. NZ being too expensive especially for the working middle class is the sole reason of our move. You pretty much have to decide between having a family or a house. One full time worker is not enough to sustain a comfortable lifestyle.

My grandparents lived in Herne Bay. The residents didn't want Māori there. Sir Dove Meyer Robinson, who was mayor at the time re-named the street after my nan Amiria.
