We're back with another comparison, this time between the original, unmodded, unaccelerated PC Quake versus Saturn Quake. At the time of its release, Quake was considered too advanced for the contemporary consoles, yet a year after the PC release, Quake appeared on the Saturn and surprised many people with how well it turned out. In this video, we compare the two games side by side and play through the first level of each while offering some insights and history into the game.

  • Sega Saturn Quake is best Quake version. .. Lobotomy was for Sega Saturn, what Rare Software was for N64... PC version of Quake, was boring even if graphic was huge, Quake for Sega Saturn, has a magic atmosphere, and in some points, was getting scared as one "ID SOFTWARE" game should be. .. when you were getting in to a shadow area, you were feeling the darkness, and some red lights point were giving such a scary atmosphere, PC version it is a bit sterile, and does not give any concrete atmosphere. .. so Sega Saturn version forever, and same story for Duke Nukem 3D. By the way, thanks for the video, cause is one of the best comparison I've seen on YouTube ❤

Phwew, $1500 on 100mhz. PC. The good old days :) I enjoyed the history lesson in this video.
  • I current own the PC version since 2017 after buying off ebay.com. This game kick ass and it works perfectly on newer computers without the use of DOSBox despite it says for DOS 5.0 on the disc and back of the packaging.

Great video...The Saturn version is a masterpiece. Only Lobotomy Software s Esra Dreisbach knows to handle this project. The ports of Duke Nukem wich doing the same Software House was great too
