It may sound like a strange question with a straight forward answer, but there is actually some cool lore behind Salamander skin pigment

I get it now. The Celestial Lions got hunted down because they where too powerful enough to have the N word pass
  • @Equitine
To be fair salamanders arnt just black they are obsidian.
  • @abyssbun444
And the celestial lions got slaughtered by the inquisition…Guess some tropes don’t go away in the 41st millennium.
  • @climax050
Imagine being a Terran born salamander and you’ve lived for like 500 years and then Vulkan gets found and everyone is like “cool let’s go visit the homeworld” and you warp jump there and look down at your hands and all of a sudden you’re black 😂😂

“Being less human on the outside, we are made more human on the inside.” - Vulcan’s shield

Salamanders are certainly one of my favorite space marines to run across if I were to endup in the nightmare-scape of warhammer40k
  • @deeznutz3712
They are not just Black, but Jet Charcoal Black. Like really dark. Also, they have glowing red eyes & one of the biggest space marine in the galaxy, which make the terrifying. Yet, they are the kindest of Spacemarine
  • @casbot71
And some very few lucky ones also inherent other characteristics of their Primarch - like being a Perpetual. So it's possibly the best Chapter to join if you mange to roll the nat 20.
  • The Blood Jaguars and Crimson Fists deserve love, absolutely badass chapters
  • @toheekang174
That info on Celestial Lion…that made their fate even worse
  • @liamace1107
Nasa recently found a habitable volcano planet, quite literally Vulcan's homeworld
  • Fun lore fact all space Marine geenseeds have a variation of this it triggers the same color change if exposed to large amounts of radiation from bombs and such.
  • They may be the token chapter of inclusivity in 40K, but they compensate by being the nicest bros in the whole setting. Other then a pissed off Black Templar chaplain everybody loves the Salamanders.
  • @ambuknight1567
Waaaaaaaiiiiit a minute!!!! Your telling me... The chapter that Said FUCK YOU to the Inquisitors where ALL VLACK?
  • @Cannabeknown
I will always love the Salamanders due to their nobility. The whole “hold the line for the people” parts of their books always hype me up, they are the Emperor’s true angels
  • @liamace1107
You're allowed to ask why people are black if you're in attack on titan
  • @palpadur1112
the Salamanders basically have a permenant version of what squids have called chromatophores: organs near the surface of the skin that use elastic sacs of pigment that stretch rapidly into discs of color when the muscles around them contract. suddenly, the Salamanders having a succsessor chapter called the Dark Krakens makes a lot more sense. both animals, salamanders and squids, can change their skin color.
  • They are a wild bunch with Heart's of Gold, no matter how you look, they didn't give a damn, just be a Bro and you can walk with them all day, burning Traitors to ash.
