If you like bugs, humidity, heat, a swampy environment and so on, Fort Myers is for you. It's not for me.

Imagine buying a house in Fort Myers in the beginning of September 22 and dealing with hurricane Ivan 2 weeks later...Welcome to Florida.

Now you have to search for Home Owner's Insurance less than 1000 a month instead of mortgage rates!

    1. It's too hot. 2. Traffic is terrible. 3. Slow pace, sleepy lifestyle. 4. Pesky bugs. 5. It's expensive. 6. Not enough good jobs. 7. Family changes. 8. Politics. Good job Chelsea.

Was looking up hurricane info. I live in East Hillsborough. You actually gave me great info on bugs and I'm a Florida resident for 52 years.
  • Well, now this negative video is moot. Nothing to sell in this area of Florida owing to Ian.
  • The Insurance lost will cripple florida Real estate market! Many companies will pay or not pay but will definitely bail because of future Liability risk

Thanks for sharing these views... I've lived in FL for more than 1/2 my life, from Panama City, to St Pete, Edgewater, Daytona, and now Cape Coral. I think you hit all the detractors spot-on. For my wife and I, have lived all over the country in the military, we find it our only little piece of paradise. Yes, we hate the "snowbird" season, because travel becomes worse than DC/NY because they bring their habits with them. I still think this is a great place to live...

Floridians do not understand the meaning of 'Traffic' until they visit NYC. You guys have it soooo easy over there.

Um watching today October 3 2022.this video was old.fort Meyer's hurricane ian just destroyed that place. Many coastal areas flooded massive storm surge.horrific.so sad indeed.i would never live in Florida ever.

I'm 56. Since I was 24 I have lived all over Florida. From the Panhandle to Miami over to Ft Myers and up to Tarpon Springs. I lived 7 years in Ft Myers. I hated it. I hate Lee County. Love the rest of Florida. Lee county.... nope.

Lifelong 7 generation Pioneer family here in Lee County. We left. Besides the reasons you stated, it's no longer home. We had less than 40,000 people in the entire county. My grandfather was a Superintendent for GAC building Cape Coral. We used to hunt off Harney Point Road which is no longer. I can come up with about 20 reasons why we left.

The people are rude, the traffic in certain areas of Fort Myers, such as Colonial Blvd west of I-75 is an absolute horrendous shitshow of a nightmare (I avoid it at all costs), the salaries suck while the rent and housing prices have gone up nearly 50% in the last year (remember your salary has barely gone up 3%), and the weather is non-stop, 11 months of humidity where you don't even want to walk outside because holy mother of God. I wish I could get out of here.

Arizona 🌡is the place to live, my husband and I retired and moved to southwest Arizona, love the the 2 seasons, we don’t get snow, although monsoon rainy season it pours, but after it dries up quick due to low humidity and the heat from the sun, Florida has treacherous hurricanes, it’s a sinkhole, that ruin homes, and your life
  • for starters cost of living has gone threw the roof, and its forcing locals to relocate because of the inflation increase.
  • Chelsea, thank you for explaining the reasons why not to move there. You convinced me. I will not move down there. I will only go there on vacations.
  • @jdgoodwin3136
Florida is great for some people, and more power to them. I wish them all the best. However, I moved from South Florida to Northern California 27 years ago, for many of the reasons you cited. Crime and violence was another factor in our leaving. I'm now retired and I am thankful every day to wake up among the vineyards and most beautiful seashores in the world. I do hope you're recovering from that awful hurricane.
