  • The song "Eat the Elephant" was co-written with Chester Bennington before his passing. It was originally going to be a Linkin Park song on "One More Light" but didn´t make the cut, so it was re-worked for the APC album.

Everyone says we lost Kurt, Chris and Scott and we're only left with Eddie......I don't know about any of y'all, but I'm damn sure happy that Maynard is still here as well!! Just because he's not plastered all over magazines and decided to stay in the shadows doesn't mean he was any less of a power house in those days.....and he's still killing it! I'll buy every APC and Tool album from here on. They NEVER disappoint! Long live MJK!

This is one of the best descriptions in music of depression/anxiety, and PTSD I have ever heard.

Finally, youtube video recommendations give me something I actually want.

It is so difficult to change habits, especially "bad" ones. Overthinking, any inner mental chit-chat, any addiction to any substance and/or addiction to any kind of pleasurable action it is so hard to change. It is scary, it is a haunting feeling of emptiness, helplessness, loneliness, sometimes all at once. And it takes a lot of patience, especially towards oneself. Never give up! I wish anyone who decide to take the first step, the first bite to "eat the elephant" much-much courage and love on their way. Seek those people around you and closest in your life, and ask them for support, they will not turn you down, they might not understand your addiction, but they will understand your struggle and be there if you fail and be there if you succeed.. Peace.
  • Keenan's voice is plunges me into an absolutely unreal atmosphere

    Hypnotic, haunting, disturbingly beautiful.
  • The theme of “Eat the Elephant” is about confronting all of the tough subjects or “the elephant in the room” so you can begin to overcome them. It also answers – without saying it in as many words – the age-old question: How do you go about eating an elephant? Answer: One bite at a time. It doesn’t matter where you start, you just have to jump in and begin.

Man, my emotions were not ready to just stumble upon this song
  • @bbrake
The tone of this song is so perfect. There's a unique flavor of depression that comes from looking at a daunting task ahead of you, and you can just watch the opportunities slip away while you spend your time trying to think through it all. I'm still working on getting better at taking the bite, but this song certainly helped get me through a tech boot camp! Side note, what a great album! I wish it had a little more fanfare, I only ever stumbled upon because I happened to be searching Amazon Unlimited for APC one time. IMO, Eat the Elephant is their best record so far. Shows how you can evolve a band's sound without sacrificing the musical cores that made you so good in the first place.

The difference between a perfect circle and Maynard’s other projects(tool etc.) has never been so clear and distinct.

This song helped me battle my fears and anxiety that had me paralyzed and controlled me, to just take that step through and just do it. Begin. Experiences that derive feeling that can’t actually hurt and kill me. I’ve now turned them around on itself, I do not feel it much or I welcome, I embrace it as a thrill. I want challenges and the pressure.

My wife died of cancer in 2020.she was my soulmate. We saw this tour live in St.louis. I had tears in my eyes when they played it. She was close to death. I didn't realize just how close.till I woke up and she lay there cold and stiff.

The authenticity of this song is amazing

A perfect circle are so good. They’ve never made a bad song in my eyes. Just amazing.
  • So my husband and i were listening to this album. Literally this song played as our 20 year old black lab died as this song was playing. It also looped back around as we were starting to dig her grave in the back yard. This is a song that helped us through crippling endeavor.
