May he rest in peace thanks for sharing your talent with us
  • John Steed and Catherine Gale are now together again. Two characters that will forever be remembered fondly. Thank-you, Patrick and Honor for giving us some of the most memorable moments in TV history..... There will never be another two like you. You were BOTH " groundbreakers" in an "iconic" series that will NEVER be duplicated! ( Though, to this day, others will try ). You both earned a special place in Heaven ( as you will ALWAYS have in my heart!) Godspeed to you two.

I loved the all the Avengers series but for me his relationship with Emma Peel was the best.Steed was the king of cool and always will be.Sadly we have now lost Diana Rigg ,so somewhere , somehow , I hope they are cracking open the Champagne together.

What a wonderful actor ! he has left behind some great characters notably , the suave and sophisticated John Steed. R I P sir ! He should be knighted in my opinion.

Steed will always be my favorite spy.

Farewell Mr. Steed till we meet on the other side...
  • Sadly Macnee like many actors who started their careers just after WW2 was caught in the seismic cultural shift that hit in 1970 when the baby boomers culture began to dominate the media. In his 50s at the time, the former Avengers icon rarely got cast even in Britain as producers followed the same trend and the once vaunted UK film industry had all but vanished. It is an odd honor that Macnee not only outlived many of the 60s TV icons but in many ways is one of the last of the Greatest Generation who went into acting following the war. Be at peace Patrick, actor, father, grandfather, and WW2 officer and gentleman.

He was perfect at the job. An icon and an inspiration. Suave, elegant, charming….and lethal. Is it realistic? No! But that’s not the point …..
