God Bless UNC, now sports fan everywhere won't have to hear about the greatness of Duke's last season, and how Coach K. went out with a championship.

There's an article (I think in SI) from 30 years ago about how Duke and UNC nearly met for the national title in 1991 where Coach K is quoted as saying that he hopes the schools never play each other in the Final Four because it would be so devastating as to be potentially a program-changer for whomever loses.

Coach K's first loss--UNC Coach K's last loss--UNC You cant write it any better. GO HEELS!!!
  • Duke can beat UNC for the next 10 years and UNC still has the upper hand
  • Carolina has 6 rings. Greatest respect for Coach K and a marvelous career. When he started coaching in 1980, UNC had one more title than Duke, and that's how he's leaving.

There’s no greater feeling as a Tarheel fan than the end of this year even without the championship. Like a long term bond finally maturing. Next up; ending Steve Alford’s career. 4 out of 5 starters back in the fall sets Davis’ UNC squad up nicely for next year.

Go Tarheels for life!!! Best win ever for the program!!! I know your buddy Stu Scott is up in heaven celebrating ❤ Love you and your work Rich!!
  • As a duke fan. This hurts me. Biggest sport lost of my life. Unc fans always going to hold that game over our heads now. Dammnnn!!
  • Jerry Stackhouse has the greatest bragging rights because he never lost to Duke !!!
  • If UNC wins the chip this will be easily the greatest season in UNC history
  • UNC score 81 points Kansas also score 81 points And now it's a match up between # 8 seed and # 1 seed. How ironic!
  • Die hard Heel and Steeler fan. But this is the greatest win in my fan hood experience
  • As a Clemson fan it pains me to see UNC in the championship. But I was thrilled to see Duke lose to UNC in coach K's final game in the final 4. I don't know how Duke ever tops this moment in the rivalry.
  • I love the way he talks about this game. As enjoyable as the game was, as a UNC fan, Eisen has made the game itself so much more enjoyable.

50 wins a piece each in their 100 meetings since Coach K became Duke’s coach in 1980.
