As the death toll from Israel’s war on Gaza tops 39,100, tens of thousands of protesters plan to march on Capitol Hill today during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of Congress. Dozens of Democratic lawmakers plan to boycott the speech, including Senators Dick Durbin, Chris Van Hollen, Jeff Merkley, Patty Murray and Bernie Sanders. “Congress has made a terrible mistake in inviting Netanyahu,” says award-winning Israeli scholar David Harel, who co-authored a New York Times essay, “We Are Israelis Calling on Congress to Disinvite Netanyahu.” Harel says Netanyahu “does not represent a majority of Israelis.”

He is trying to 'solve' Gaza the way Germans tried to 'solve' my family

That Netanyahu can give a speech in Congress is not a mistake... it is complicity

Not just Netanyahu, the people shaking hands and hugging are also considered criminals

    Anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitic, Anti-Zionism is anti-NOTZism

Criminals legitimizing criminality should not be condoned.

I call for the abolishment of the Isreali state in its entirety because it's establishment was in violation of the established right of the indigenous peoples right to self determination. Arab lands were never the Europeans to give away. If Europeans want the people who call themselves Isrealies to have their own lands, they need to give them what's lawfully theirs to give, European lands.

At some point there will be a Palestinian Holocaust Museum and as we visit that museum we will be asking ourselves 'How did we allow this to happen'
  • All those people smiling and shaking his hand. Absolutely disgusting!
  • Netanyahu's guilt in crimes against humanity is undeniable. Allowing him to address the US Congress reflects poorly on our nation, echoing a history tainted by genocide. Those of us aware of the suffering inflicted on Gaza's people recognize the parallels with Hitler's atrocities against Jews during WWII.
  • They arrest protester but not the leader of the worst genocide ever!
  • @MarinaMaven
Peaceful protest is NOT a crime! Why are these people being arrested. Atrocious.

This scholar called it "anti-Israelism". The "-ism" means he acknowledges that Israel is an ideology. No country should exist based on an ideology. Does he agree that Israel is the country of all Jews? Lots of Jews will disagree with that. Judaism is a religion, not a nationality.
  • After WW II, when they said "NEVER AGAIN" it applied to ANY WAR CRIME, AGAINST ANY GROUP, ANYWHERE, AT ANY TIME!
