Thanks I modified one of my kid’s trains, it really works, and yes thank for for that tip on sanding down the positive terminals, it really made a difference when soldering.

I remember doing something similar to an RC car years ago. That Thomas sure can chug! Maybe a higher level mod will be to solder a potentiometer on the circuit to lower the speed when needed. That was a fun one, just like old leokimvideo ;)

I managed to make 2 trains with this mod, and while they are not nearly as elegant as this versions, it works quite well!

Oh man this really is vintage Leo :P What a cool mod! So fast, but curious to see how long the motor lasts. Very nice internal design; certainly cuts costs on Mattel's part (but should also make them more durable). Makes more sense why they've gone with the standardised chassis now...Maybe add some of those bumpers from the bigger sets to the curves to keep Thomas on the track?I imagine the weight of the 9V hinders his ability to jump somewhat, esp as it drags behind. Still, a lot of fun!!!!

Hello Leokimvideo, thanks for the mod. I did this with my son who is named Leo. It was so fast it kept flying off the tracks. So I grinded off the ridges of the back tires and put a thin strip of hot glue on each back tire. After that it ran on the tracks pretty well and very fast. Thanks again!

Incredible mod Leo! Now if only Mattel make something like this... Mmm, they should defs give you some royalties haha. Btw, where those Thomas Mini Launchers I saw during the end of the video? Personally I didn't like them, they didn't work for me. Ended up disposing of the launcher but keeping the awesome Minis themselves haha. Probs the only reason to buy the set IMO for those exclusive Minis. New Wave1 (2016) are gradually making in Australia. Coles I've heard are currently stocking. Codes from No. 1-19. Be mindful few are repeats from last year but there are awesome new ones too!! 😝

I discovered that with the new Thomas, Annie, and Clarabell pack that is being sold, you can mod Thomas, and then hide the battery inside Annie! You just have to thread the wires through and cut parts of the seats off to make some room. But it does work! (Technically if you did the mod on the 75th anniversary chrome Thomas and added the Annie and Clarabell coaches to it, it’s basically a modern remake of the fast chrome Thomas from years ago!)
