Including prices is such a great idea for this type of video! Great job, Melvo 👏🏻
  • @GSlays
Thank you so much for making this video, I been searching for more souls like after finishing all the FromSoftware. I love to platinum them and this like it the best I found!
  • I know you said you didn’t play it but something to note that makes Code vein a great intro to souls like is it’s a great teacher on how the souls build system works, you have prebuilt stat spreads that you can slot in and out (rather points its a scaling system so from E rank to S+) allowing you to quickly switch between builds VERY easily, and it’s a good teacher on “ok this is what a strength build would play like, this is a caster build, tank, dodge tank, dex build” so on and so fourth and gives you a good feel not only how the build feels but how you are exposed to build such builds with what the scaling stat spreads showcase, i remeber my first soulsborne where me being an idiot not know what to do tried to spread all my level ups equally among ALL stats

Great list!! If someone is looking to test out the genre but doesn’t want a fantasy setting, I loved both Surge games. Great sci-fi soulslike.

I really dig this new type of content of yours but will there be reviews and such in the future?
  • Oh niiiice, right when I got me some food and a drink! Cheers mate! Also, I keep getting this absolutely cursed ad every time I watch any of your videos 😆😆😆😆

Absolutely love me some Soulslike games. I've played & enjoyed them all in this video... Fantastic way to go after you spent thousands of hours into the fromsoft games.. I love all these games especially Lords of the Fallen, Lies of P, Mortal Shell & Thymesia..
  • Good stuff mate! Played almost every game on your list (except for this Jedi game, I didn't even know it's a soulslike ha)

Jedi Fallen Order and Remnant were my introductions to the souls genre, so I have some deep love for those titles. I'd also add that I think The Surge 2 could be a good starting spot. Also, I'd say what I feel like is one of the hardest things about getting someone into DS1 was the boss run backs, which could be brutal in Dark Souls but have all been eliminated by Elden Ring. Also speed of combat is remarkedly different from DS 1 to DS3, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, Lies of P, etc. Still it's a great masterpiece and should be played, but maybe after a few others unless the first-timer is really committed.

Great list, love thymesia, and feel it is underrated

I agree with almost everything you said and I really like the way you explained in detail the advantages and disadvantages of each game. My one disagreement is Dark Souls as a starter. I agree that it's harder to go back and play after the other ones, but it is so noob unfriendly, and I don't think any of today's gamers are going to have the patience for figuring things out. When I played it back in 2011 I quit twice, the first time right after I got out of the undead asylum and realized I could barely level up. And the stat pages and menu are complete and utter nonsense at the beginning. So my suggestion if you're going to play Dark Souls 1, don't be afraid to look things up on the internet, you might get some spoilers but there's some stuff I don't even know how anybody figured out on their own.

Lies of p apparently did so well that they announced a sequel so we'll be playing the sequel to it in no time hopefully I played the entire game and beat it and it is probably one of the greatest shows like kind of games I've ever played they did a very good job with it, seriously there's another Studio out there that actually can make good Souls like games not saying the other Studios don't do a good job but when it comes to Studios that perfectly copy Dark Souls in the formula the creators of this game did a very good job

Surge 2 is underrated soulslike. I cannot decide if its the best non from sofware game or Lies of P.
  • tha surge 1 and 2 was amazing, its a sci fi darksouls but cant rely summons. sekiro is tha last 1 to touch. i really enjoyed code vein too with the partner system and all the unique vestige builds.

LOTF is one of my favorite souls likes. I really like the dark look of the world's, the armor and overall art style of the game. it's got forgiving rolls and iframes which I wasn't sure about at first, but feels good with aggressive mobs the game throws at you. The new in game modifiers are good fun as well. Towards the end of a new game plus run now. I have put double the amount of hours into Lords than I put into LOP. LOP had some cool mechanics and I really enjoyed the majority of the boss design and had some forgiving parry windows that were satisfying to hit. I tried to be open minded to the story, but I just couldn't get into the whole Pinocchio thing, but still a fun game for me. Can't wait to see what they hinted at the end. 🤞 Interesting concept

I'm trying Lords of the fallen 2023, but I'm not really convinced. Great video!
