SOUTH CAROLINA, USA - Today weā€™re going to two of the most legendary barbecue smoke houses in the United States. They do everything the traditional way - using only hard woods. Weā€™ll begin with the original Scottā€™s Bar-B-Que in Hemingway, South Carolina and continue to Rodney Scott's BBQ in Charleston.

To begin, we started where it all began, in the small town of Hemingway, South Carolina. The bbq was excellent and I especially enjoyed the ribs and the chicken.

It was an honor to spend a few hours with one of Americaā€™s best pitmasters Rodney Scott. I asked him what makes good bbq, and he immediately answered patience, hard wood, good proteins, music and storytelling. Rodney also sprinkles on seasoning, spoons out the meat, and uses a mop to add sauce!

I've been going to Scott's almost my entire life and I'm 53 now. They deserve every bit of respect they get.
  • This man is eating probably the most delicious food around the world with so much enthusiasm and happiness! One thing I like about mark is he never disrespected the food. Now about to hit 10 million subscribers wow what a journey.

Rodney is a true pitmaster and a very humble person sticking to his family roots. It definitely shines through in his cooking of bbq.

The bbq is next level. Markā€™s enthusiasm inspires me every time. But Rodneyā€™s vibe brah, the way he relates food to people, to community, peace and aloha. Damn dude, this man is more than a pit master. Heā€™s a poet, and a model for how we should all be looking at the world and each other. Much love man. Your words are as next level as that food!

I'm from Australia, we love BBQing, but honestly, nothing beats American BBQ. The pit men down there in the southern states have so much personality and generations of knowledge. We just couldn't do it as well here, you need that magic mojo they have in spades.

I love what Rodney said at time 16:45 about the world being in peace if everyone started a BBQ everywhere.šŸ˜Ž..I have memories of Franklin's BBQ in NE Portland Oregon back in the 1980's, that was great BBQ(miss that place)....I'm drooling as I watch this

Iā€™m from South Carolina and we do have the best barbecue! I really enjoyed this video ! Thanks
  • Went to scotts in Hemingway about 5 years ago. Every time we go to Myrtle Beach we always head over on Thursday before coming home to Durham, NC. Awesome food. Met Mr. Rosie and he gave us a tour and took pictures with him. Miss not seeing him now. Everyone is down to earth and makes you feel at home. Can't wait to go down in December. Thanks Mark we feel you.
  • Went to Rodney Scott's in Charleston back in April. The restaurant brought back memories of where I grew up. Went to school at James Simmons for 3rd and 4th grade. My late brother, graduated from Rivers High School across the street. The grocery store across the street used to be A&P. Next to Rivers High was the old County Hall. Used to go to wrestling matches, but what's most important was it being the venue of Dr. King's last speech on his visit to Charleston before he was assassinated in Memphis several monts later. I was there, July 30th 1967. Thank you Rodney for bringing back those memories.
  • @prodigyx2498
