The first time I heard Wagner's Tannhauser Overture I am not ashamed to say that, as a man, I almost cried. Never have I heard anything so beautiful in all my life. Richard Wagner was a musical genius!

As a little kid, 7 or 8? hearing this, I didn't know what to do--I was knocked over! Still am-but pushing 87 I know my love for his genius will never change.

IMHO this is the perfect piece to introduce classical music to someone who doesn't know it. One beautiful theme is developed from single instruments to full orchestra over a rhythmic background that anyone can appreciate. Genius!

my father was in Russia for 4 years German POW ....Wagner was his favorite , help kept alive there by symphonic music, after he came home listening a lot and I too, thanks to him for knowing and getting to know him. Now , I am 77 - it keeps me alive .... music is one of God's greatest gifts to mankind ....

Jetzt hält es mich am Leben .... Musik ist eines der größten Geschenke Gottes an die Menschheit ....
