  • The fact that the little screw covering rubber feetsies aren't glued on and pulling the back open doesn't feel like you're defiling fragile plastic actually has me slackjawed in relatively positive surprise.

Using the touchscreen boosting FPS may be a "touchboost" kind of thing. This is commonly used in Android smartphones: as soon as touch input is detected, CPU and GPU frequency are automatically increased for a while to ensure the device feels responsive to the user input.

Customer: my game is stuttery Tech support: did you try touching the screen?

Laptop powered by it's touchscreen, very impressive
  • I am more impressed with how easy it was to open the laptop. The magnetic "clips" are a nice touch.

I also perform better when someone periodically touches my face. Leads to some weird weekly meetings with my boss. Relatable.

A while ago shareholders of MSFT started getting really mad that their laptops couldn't be repaired at all so microsoft pulled a 180 and made some reasonably well repairable laptops. a pleasant surprise for sure.

That artifact looks like Dithering, where the renderer actually renders a checkerboard to halve the amount of work that needs to be done. Definitely prominent in most games with any kind of transparent objects, or just in general.. Usually it gets smoothed out by post effects or just being high resolution.

I really hope somebody at Microsoft and/or Qualcomm is watching this video. That touchscreen thing is so weird, and I can't imagine they ever notice it on their own to fix it.

I'm surprised that Arm is capable of playing games whatsoever. And through a translator? Arm has come a long way

The artifacting is one thing with a compatibility layer, but GTAV running competently as long as the touchscreen is touched occasionally is absolutely bizarre! Hopefully means there's some kind of update they can do to make it much more stable. Not that I'd pick an ARM laptop as a gamer at this point but at least there's some kind of potential there for mixed-use.

Remember the rumors that this was faster than a 14900k? I do.

puts ear buds in, hides phone between monitors at work

Honestly kinda impressed. That thing must be pretty good at daily internet usage.
