The Least Ghetto Way To Fix Broken Beats By Dre Solo HD Headphones

Beats By Dre products are covered by a limited one year warranty. Unfortunately, if you own an old set, got them as a gift, bought them used, or just dont keep receipts for every little thing, youre out of luck. I've contacted the company in hopes that I could purchase a replacement headband. Unfortunately, their support team claims they do not offer such a part for sale. And what's worse: they claimed that this was NOT a common issue with these!

Anyway, I was unimpressed with the other repair "how to" videos on youtube, as most of them involved wrapping a large quantity of electrical or duct tape around the headband, which just looks ridiculous and tacky. So I hope you enjoy my alternative method of repair.

Thank you so much!!! I was looking for a durable fix, and this only took me about 30min. I had snapped my Monster NCredible headphones and was able to fix them with your help!
  • Thanks for the video! The tape and jeans trick is really so smart. Good thinking.

I'll add the link to the description, because I'm sure this might become an issue for others as well. This style of headset was very popular in the 80s and 90's. They typically came free with portable cassette and CD players. Once ear buds became the norm, these stopped being packaged along with them.

Sorry for the late reply. I hope you eventually got it working. If not, I sent you a message containing my email address. Please email me a pic or video showing where you cut and reconnected, and I will see if I can help you sort this out.

Awesome fix! Where did you find the donor headphones? looking for the old headband stainless piece. not at radio shack, walmart and the like.

What is the wire you speak of? The metal band part of the donor headset shown at around 5:20? Sorry I didn't film the disassembly. I wasn't watching where the camera was when I took it apart, and hoped that the added text would clear up some confusion.

i bought a new headband on eBay but while disassembly the original one i had to cut the wire cause it was glued all over, now i'm ready to assembly the new headband but first i'm trying to connect the wire again (the left with the right) but can't get any sound on the Right speaker! i tought this was a simple copper cable and after cut it and connect it again everything will be working perfectly. any solutions for this? maybe replace the entire wire from the left speaker to right will work? :(

I got my headphones (Not Beats) for my birthday. Two months later the place where the cushion part of the headband meets the adjustable part cracked, and since they're noise cancelling, the have a lot of pressure at that one part. I tried using super glue (Gorilla Glue) to fix the crack, but the tension was too much and the glue didn't hold. I'm tempted to try epoxy, and see if that helps. (I ordered these off ebay, so I don't think I can return them. The headphones themselves still work without problem, but the crack causes a shift in balance, breaks the noise seal around your ear, and becomes uncomfortable to wear. Any ideas?
