Soren Kierkegaard was a Danish philosopher, theologist, writer, and culture critic born in the year 1813. He has published a fair amount of works in his lifetime, most written under various pseudonyms. These pseudonyms expressed all kinds of different, sometimes even contradicting, views that have caused historians trying to find Kierkegaard’s true beliefs to scratch their heads. Some of his pseudonyms were: Johannes Climacus, Anti-Climacus, Constantin Constantius, and ‘The Individual.’ Some of his most notable works are: ‘Either/or’, ‘Fear and Trembling’, ‘Sickness unto Death’, and ‘The Concept of Anxiety’. Kierkegaard is widely regarded as the father of Existentialism, a theory asserting that human beings possess no innate essence or fixed purpose and are free to determine their identity. Kierkegaard wrote extensively on this subject, although never using the term ‘existentialism’ himself.

I'd like to take a moment to say that watching a sitcom has somehow led me to watching videos like this. "The good place" talks about these guys a lot. And as of now I'm just understanding the irony of one of the characters existential pit of dread while he also taught about this same exact stuff.
  • This was really good teaching and philosophy but most of all the narrator’s voice , punctuation and expressiveness , was outstanding! Made all the difference Well done sir!

I tried very hard to read Kierkegaard in the past, but he's beyond my scope of understanding to what he wrote. His writings are totally from another dimension.

I don't have much existential anxiety no more really and it is because of Psychedelic therapy where i actually experiences what is beyond our "Super filtered" reality in 3:d that our brain forces us to experience/believe. Always the same experience i had in a way, and when you somewhat "dissolves the EGO itself" you merge with ALL of Consciousness just as some kind of primordial state of being but that consciousness is never ending but rather just the vessel(body), and this goes on forever and have always done in a way i think. What was before "The big bang"?, Consciousness was before and then the Universe were created Of and BY it, then later life was created in order to experience consciousness in order for it to experience itself from different perspectives. Just like we humans experience consciousness in a special subjective experience in 3:d(for some reason i don't know). And i believe that this goes for ALL life, because the more diversity of life the more "feedback" goes back to Consciousness itself. Something like that is what i believe. Cheers from Sweden 🙂😗😗🤫

This guy hasn’t read Kierkegaard at all, he just looked up some quotes and made a video. Kierkegaard literally says anxiety is sin just as the Bible views it that way. Worry means you are caring too much about worldly things or not trusting God enough. Read His book “Christian Discourses.” Super underrated. In fact, I have found that Kierkegaard’s most famous books are actually his worst. People only say they are good cuz it sounds cool to like the books that are the most complex. If you are new to Kierkegaard I would start with: “Self-Examination, Without Authority (Lily and the Bird), and Christian Discourses.
  • Thank you, I hadn’t heard of Soren works before, this is deeply helpful. Thank you.

I love his views on anxiety. Puts a positive spin. And it's very true. Change can be good, it requires courage and strength, especially if you have higher anxiety/anxiety disorder and still manage to make those positive changes !
