Imagine “Ayo can you sharpen my pencil?” “Sure” removes socks
  • @rectitude007
I can’t believe that before Smallant entered the scene, the world record took half an hour to sharpen 10 pencils.
  • The thumbnail looks like the local chimneysweep surrendering to the police after he was caught red handed stealing singular a singular lima bean.

The title was cut off, so I read it as "how I became the fastest pencil," and I didn't even question it

Can't believe I just watched a documentary about a man sharpening pencils

I’m late to this but if you read this I love this format. Most streamers just upload their livestreams, sometimes including intros and break times. The commentary over it makes both platforms different and enjoyable. The commentary makes the video feel like more of a story while the stream feels more personal. Good stuff

When your trainer is a guy named footcream calling himself part of the “pencil sharpening dudes”
  • @zavhyatta9795
“Is he gonna do the glitch to skip the seventh pencil?” Had me dying.

Who else kept seeing this in their recommended, and said “why not” and didn’t expect it to be this good
  • @natfingerboard
Okay but can we talk about that guy in last place who took more than 7 hours to sharpen 10 pencils?
  • @avatarx5196
5:53 the way he says footcream in such seriousness is too funny
  • @lkheffner2173
at the end it looks like your kept hostage and being forced to sharp the pencils against your will.
  • @ooccttoo
If nothing else, this series gave you a LOT of mileage out of the “sharpening my skills” pun

"pencil sharpening delirium" "the legendary footcream" the internet has made some fantastic sentences possible
  • This is an amazing catagory. Still, there's a lot to come in this record. A wide range of premium sharpeners are still going to be faster, the twin blade one he picked initially being a great choice. The KUM sharpeners at the beginning of the video being another, along with the great name. There's a good array of novel sharpeners out there. But you need to sharpen the blades and replace them when they are overused. Premium pencils are obviously better, but picking the correct wood makes a huge difference. Premium tend to use hardwood instead of the woods cheap pencils use gumming up the internals, I'd presume maple would be the best hardwood choice. However talk to a carpenter to find out which is easiest to plane. Finally I'd think a few miscellaneous tweaks might help too. Lubricant on the inside of the sharpener so it spins freer. Pencils contain graphite which is a great lubricant, graphite powder would be better. Maybe even something like molybdenum dabbed on the end of each pencil or something equally silly could help. I'm not able to be the sharpening world record holder myself, but I can at least advance the meta for those who are able to compete.
