Kaiju no Kami Reviews - KyuuKyuu Sentai GoGoFive (1999) Series and DVD

Published 2018-05-10
It is the year 1999 and all through the house everything was stirring in fear for the end of the world. At least, that is what Toei decided to do for their basis for their sequel to Gingaman titled GoGoFive, a series about a family of rescue workers who have to battle an evil family of demons. Are the GoGoFive the heroes Japan needs? Or do they need to be saved from their ineptitude? Watch to find out.

Go Go Five is one of my FAVORITE Sentai series. Plus, it's the first Sentai I ever watched from beginning to end so it has a special place in my heart. Plus, I love the theme of turning rescue workers into Super Heroes.

The voice of Chun-Li is in go go five And yet Chun-Li proper is in a power rangers game Man this world is a strange strange place

So they're basically one huge pun? Huh. Still, despite being long as hell, this was yet another great review. I'm really loving this series so far. It has quite possibly my favourite suit designs. Also, I think GoGoV Vs Ohranger would have been better since they both take themselves more seriously and both take place in 1999.

I always look forward to your Sentai reviews! You’re easily my favorite on YouTube

Great review. GoGoFive is a pretty underrated series but I've always enjoyed it. Especially the two opposing family themes this season had. The ranger suits and the monster suits were amazing in GoGoFive. Glad to see the series on DVD and get some love. I also can't wait to get my own copy of it too.

I’m currently watching this show. And you’re right, the opening song gets you ready that I sing along, especially the ladies in the background vocalizing with the main singer. I love this show already. Later on i learned that Daimon Tatsumi Gogo Yellow Kenji Shibata is living with incurable brain tumor. That was the tragic thing I learned. But overall this show is captivating. Love it

I really liked GoYellow despite him getting so few focus episodes. The Thanatos episode was indeed a chore though. Overall I liked GoGoV, the plot was kinda tiresome and the ground battles are light on intricate action but fantastic music, cool monster designs, plenty of memorable episodes, and a solid cast elevate it. Also it has possibly my favorite Sentai mech ever, Grand Liner!
  • The scene with Matsuri's note to their Mom actually made me tear up a bit, even just from the review.
  • Can I have everyone's attention please! I have some horrible news! The Actor who plays go yellow in gogo 5 has an untreatable and uncurable brain tumor leaving him permanently paralyzed on his right side. He also HLS, so we might lose another Actor very soon 😭😭😭

I honestly feel an animated PR series created at the hands of Hasbro deserves a chance.

Definetly deserves a 5 grownups in spandex mark. The premise of a heroic family VS a villanous one is something that hasn't been done before or since, so lot's of depths happened on this series (like Prof Mondo trying to reconnect with his childrens in the 1st half, the Villains desperate love for Grandiene, and the sibling moments) while still playing the rescue theme straight. I first saw GogoV in the VS movie of Timeranger and i think they are pretty cool since l liked PR LSR, and watched it a few weeks ago and it didn't dissapoint. Liking the Heroes (and Matoi reminds me of Makito of Magiranger), One of the best set of Villains ever (especially Zelpheeza), and of course the first that tried to implement realism (well for a kids show at least). Nice review kaiju

I loved Gogo V as well and will gladly give it the same score as you did. Gogo V is one of those show that gives us a good family dynamic story especially the episode where it involved mother to the five sibling. It makes me tear up everytime, I watch it. :)

This is definitely a season I want to see but I'm strapped at the moment so it might have to wait until Christmas or if Shout has a really good sale to grab both this and Timeranger
  • Lately I've been binging your Sentai videos, they're so good! Anyway, been considering watching this one next. Not sure if you seen the soul eater prequel "Fire force" but I swear this inspired it

Lesson of the day: Milk enables you to channel Segata Sanshiro. Looking at Denus here and seeing how they managed to bring her to Power Rangers as Vypra, is it really that difficult to adapt human villains? Even if the argument is "They'll need to shoot new scenes with the Rangers", don't they do it all the time? And what about all PR-Originals like Zedd, Mesogog, Devatox, Sledge? Or hell, the original Reta was a human villain and they dubbed her dialogue and brought another actress to play her so it's not like it was never done before.

I really love the soundtrack can you feel my soul on Go Go five that right there alone gets me pumped up for this show

What episode did that one with kids having a tour and Mint taking care of them take place in.

On that note, Grand Liner will purposely shock you and without proper training most likely kill you due to how powerful it is. (It says so in the show itself)
