The Dark Knight Trilogy, Two Batmen Later (Supercut)

Published 2023-12-03
Just a heads up, this is a COMPILIATION of my previous Dark Knight Trilogy videos on the channel, with The Dark Knight Returns thrown in for good measure. I had to make a few minor changes due to WB and Content ID, so if you wanna see the original versions, go ahead and check them out. I do apologize for the lower quality of earlier vids but hey, live and let learn.

Chapters
00:00 Batman Begins
21:59 The Dark Knight
44:19 The Dark Knight Returns Tangent
01:11:00 The Dark Knight Rises

Alright, I wanted to do something like a supercut like this for a while now. I floated the idea with the Community duology, and then I realized I might as well wait until the movie comes out to do that (eventually…). Instead I apologize in advance for the general lower quality of…pretty much everything for the early vids lol obviously I was figuring out a lot of stuff out (still am by the way) and looking back, there’s absolutely a lot I’d have done differently.

I think the biggest change would be that I’d have preferred to do one, full video on the Nolan trilogy as opposed to segmented videos, especially because there’s a lot I could have done to make everything just flow better as a single complete discussion. I also would have liked to clean up the audio and have it be more consistent; I changed mics after Batman Begins, changed recording software and learned more about audio mixing after The Dark Knight, and moved after The Dark Knight Returns, and that made things sound even weirder when I did a quick listen through. God it makes me cringe lol. I literally recorded Begins in my living room and you can totally tell.

It’s even more annoying because there’s definitely some ideas, topics, and jokes that I wanted to use throughout all three discussions, but I either forgot, or for some reason, they didn’t work as well as I originally thought when it was time to actually implement them. If I had a time machine I’d definitely do all of the films as one video instead of 3.5/3 years.

Still, as much as I’d like to go back and redo it, I can’t, so this is the best I can do! Again, I hope you can bear with the lower quality of the early vids. I definitely think I could have done a lot better, but it is what it is. Next real video should be well into production by this point, so look forward to that soon!

once again came here for the content and staid for gintoki (and the cool content ofc)
  • Sometimes i wonder how different the Dark Knight Rises would have been if Heath Ledger had still been alive.

The Scarecrow cameo was awesome and everytime i see that scene i image the Joker would have been the "defense attorney" pretending and giving bad arguments against the sentencing only to agree with Scarecrow later.

But at the same time i could see Nolan writing Joker a bigger part and then Joker would just steal the show and that would drastically change the movie.

I ultimately think the trilogy as a whole is great with The Dark Knight as the best, then Rise, then Batman Begins
  • I think Batman losing to Bane in The Dark Knight Rises was less "he is old and worn out" and more "he mentally didn't have it in him any more to fight".

Bruce loses his future when Rachel dies so he loses his will to live. Then once most of the crime has been stopped he loses his will to fight. Then comes in Bane and Batman is needed again but Bruce doesn't have the motivation to fight anymore.

When Batman comes back to beat Bane he had regained that will to fight and had a future to look forward to so his will to live, fear of death, and his motivation to fight are what let him win.
