Here's my Japanese RnB composition 夜空 (Night Sky)! I'm Sab and I love saxophone and video games, so now I make covers that combine two of my favorite things!

Recently, a friend of mine posted a cover of a song called Workin' Hard by Fujii Kaze. I had never heard the song, and immediately wanted to learn it myself! The chord progression was super smooth and the Japanese lyrics were different than anything else I had encountered in the Japanese songs I've learned so far! When I thought about writing a track like this, I was inspired by Workin' Hard as well as some tracks from Dr. Stone!

I started writing Yoruzora after sketching some other composition ideas. I started with just a scatted a vocal melody after figuring out a chord progression and bass part. But I wanted to try writing lyrics. My biggest concern was repeating lyrics from older songs, since this felt very spacey and like the night sky.

So I tried to write Japanese lyrics! I've studied Japanese for the past few years and never done Japanese lyrics like this for a song. It was a lot of fun to write lyrics in another language! Especially since Japanese is different than English with lyric construction and flexibility.

I kept this short since my vocabulary is still limited in Japanese and I didn't want to be too repetitive. But it was a fun experiment to do something different! Not only with lyrics, but another language as well!

I wanted to use my colored lights for this one, but couldn't get them quite right in the new set up. Thankfully, color correction came to my rescue to get those dreamy space colors!

Hope you enjoy this Japanese #RnB original 夜空 composed by me, #SabIrene ~

Lyrics:
夜空を見てみよう
ほしの間で踊ろう
まちの明かりが
明るく輝いている

日が昇る前に行こう
もうTIMEがない急いで
Because I really wanna
Wander among the stars

手をつないで空を見せる
とてもくらくて素晴らしい
歌う甘い声をおって
光に近づく行こう

Black, white, purple, pink, blue swirlin’ ‘round
Dancin’ in the dark and lighting up the sky
Black, white, purple, pink, blue swirlin’ ‘round
Take my hand as we wander ‘mong the stars

Translation:
Let’s go to see the night sky
Let’s dance among the stars
The city’s light shine so bright

Let’s go before the sun rises
Let’s hurry we’re running out of time
Because I really wanna
Wander among the stars

Hand in hand let’s watch the sky
So dark and wonderful
Follow the song of the sweet voice
Close to the light, Let’s go

Mmm, that's so silky smooth! Absolutely delightful. Would sound right at home in a scene from Call of The Night. Love this new era of originals, keep up the awesome work!

Ohh nice!! :D Didn't expect the Japanese lyrics すげえぇぇぇぇ
  • @pkmaronic
Yeah I can totally see myself looking up into the night sky with the stars twinkling overheard. Maybe a comet or a couple of shooting stars going by and the galaxy band of stars. And then wondering how I got outside into an open field at night😂. Very good music!

The Sab Irene tradition of amazing space-themed compositions continue.

This is exactly the level of chill I needed for a Sunday evening

A friend on discord recommended this and I dig it! It has a lovely retro vibe that reminds me of songs like Yasuko Agawa's "L.A. Nights."

Short, sweet, catchy, and chill. Love this one. I'm no expert on Japanese lyrics, but they fit right into the feel of the song.

I've listened to this 5 times today. It really meshed well with the mood I've been rockin' all day. I find your voice so incredibly soothing to hear, your singing is so underrated. Yet another solid piece of music, can't wait for the next. (This one might be one of my favorites. lol.)

Kyoto-no you DIDN'T! 🤪 But really your pronunciation is on point here. Very fun 🤘

Love it! You found a really smooth chord progression and kept it moving with lively bass and varied rhythms, it's all satisfyingly mixed so the busy percussive instruments are punchy but not overbearing and all the parts are distinct. Your vocals are beautifully articulated, and great job with the Japanese lyrics and being able to sing so cleanly in another language! We've all got something that we can derive endless peace and inspiration from, and the night sky seems to be a returning theme in your compositions, the vibe you bring with it is always a calm, confident happiness and this style of music from you always has a place in my relaxation playlists. This piece reminds me of walking down a busy, neon-lit market city street at night, your editing probably helps that idea along. It's a great vibe, I'm sure I'll be visiting it again and again, so thank you.

This is exactly the mood I'm all for. This hip-hop jazz feeling... yummy! Although, why do I have now the feeling this could be covered by Soulive? ...I have weird thoughts... x)

Smoooooooth... respect the Japanese pronunciation as though you were a native speaker
