  • Of course…a contractor loves a client that doesn’t complain about timeline, pays whatever is asked and doesn’t know when it is built right.
  • I live in SoCal and we had half acre of land and the house came with no landscaping, it cost us 110K for a pool, spa, built-in bbq, 2 patio covers, a low wall spanning the width, ie 100 feet, another 50 ft of walls around the courtyard, (all stuccoed, 14 queen palm trees, 6 pigmy palms,8 ficus trees, lots of flagstones in the backyard and around the pool and spa. Half a million is excessive. There was a handball and tether ball court.

Nice job but no way in hell does that cost $500,000.

So your definition of a great client is one you can overcharge and accepts, without issue, any errors in your work? You should have charged $200K to $250K for this project. I would have loved this client to. For $500K you did not build a firepit?

Theres no way that should cost $500K unless you are building it on the Dark Side of the Moon! My friend lives in Manhattan Beach ($$$$) California and has a equally beautiful backyard complete with a salt water pool, BBQ pit set in stone work, a mini Kitchen, a hot tub and an entertainment area and it was only $250K. Easy going clients get taken for a ride apparently... 🤦🏼‍♂🤷🏼‍♂

The real thief is the landscape company. No way this is 500k worth of landscaping.
  • I'd like to see the backyard two years from now & see how everything's holding up.
  • It’s amazing when you get a good customer. It makes you want to do more for them. A lot of homeowners don’t get that..Absolutely gorgeous job T. Guys did great 👍
  • Great video!! As someone who owns rentals and have used countless contractors, you speak facts about the pure cost of materials and labour. This isn't a reality TV show where the builds are unrealistic, this is reality and NO ONE works for less than $20/hr on any renovation crew, unless you DIY. And something of this magnitude, let the Pro's take over, cheaper in the long run in my opinion. Loved your transparency, thanks for posting.

I work as a landscape architect for NWD in Palm Beach, Florida. I can assure you designing is expensive but the outcome will always be much more suitable for the client. Some clients make landscape design adjustments and sell the house, making more profit then what it was intentionally going for. To make money, you have to spend money 👍🏻
  • Tigren always says in California. California is one of the largest states. Tigren works in Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley is the highest cost of living in the entire United States. The cost of living in the Sacramento California area is 75% less expensive than Silicon Valley California. Labor in Salinas or Lincoln or Modesto California is a lot lot cheaper than in Silicon Valley California. So it isn't simply California. It's specifically Silicon Valley California : Menlo Park, Saratoga, Los Altos, Redwood City, San Jose, Mountainview all of Silicon Valley homes start at $1 million, most cost more than a million. You have to earn $300,000 a year to buy a home here.

I still feel like this could of been a 150k-200k job in another state and maybe in the cheapest states 60-80k
  • @LtMav-zk2qo
Nice! I would add some lighting on the steps and around the perimeter.
  • Everyone sees the overall cost, but no one sees how much it costs in labor and materials. Materials are insanely expensive and that’s just what it is. If you want the expensive fancy materials… you pay higher prices. What about labor? Tigran pays his employees really good money so they do great quality of work. You want stuff put together and looking sharp… you pay higher prices. If you really want to save money, you pay more for better materials and more importantly better labor and people doing the work. Otherwise, pay less and you’ll be paying more later when you have to re-do the shit show that you paid for.
  • Absurd times we live in. The roi will never be realized for the homeowner. Just throwing money away. Embarrassing.
  • @younney1533
I would have done a botanical garden with 500k 🤣.
  • @dieselmex1808
Can you make a video breaking down your costs + time of running your YouTube channel and how you manage both YouTube and landscaping together ?
  • That is crazy nice. I dropped $180K on my backyard and only got some basic pavers, deck, and a retaining wall. It’s soooo expensive in the Bay Area.
