omg. i had a FV300 just sitting in my garage for most of last year due to the horrendous bowing on the bottom edge. I did so much research into potential solutions so many times and always came away discouraged by the total lack of consensus on what to do (there will always be someone saying "needs a recap. nothing else will work.") and the complexity and danger associated with any of the proposed solutions. I finally found this trick yesterday in a video posted by SpudZgames, it worked, and the FV300 is now my primary set inside the house. thank you so much for discovering and sharing it. I am absolutely amazed with all the thousands of words written about this problem online that it took till Sept. 2021 for anyone to share that the manufacturers included a way to mitigate it. wild.

I've found a few vague mentions of this procedure on reddit comments from 2-3 years ago, but it wasn't until lately that more and more people are actually showing this in action. I think we need to keep spreading the word because most of the time I read comments like "that flat screen wega is crap, get something else", but if this will be the fix for my KV-32FS120, I'm going to try it once I manage to move it. It's so heavy!

This procedure is described in the service manual for the KV-XJ29M31 with a BG3R chassis and likely applies to a lot of the larger Wega models from Oceania and South East Asia.

Dude! great find! I have never heard of anyone adjusting those rings. Most people say to throw the TV in the dump. Some people say to push the yoke in but this is the first time I have heard anyone adjust those rings on the the neck. I think I might do a video of this on my channel. I hope you don't mind. I will credit your video in my video.
  • @chchris25
Thank you, I have seen every CRT adjustment video on YouTube and only you showed the solution!

I wished I saw this video sooner. Thx for uploading

i can hear the pich noise from that TV, oh my ears
  • You can also move the yoke itself to correct. The yoke's foam wedges shrink or fall out of place over time. I think the high voltage danger means most people would rather just toss it.
  • @kirabate
You can use the service menu and change the vertical

Здравствуйте. Как называется эта решётка для теста экрана? Где её взять и как включить?
  • @Mishkobt
Thanks, this at least fixed a lot of the problem. I cant completely fix the bowing but it is much less noticeable now so i think thats a win

I've got this problem with a Sony 24-in Trinitron that I had found when someone was throwing it out. I got my PS2 hooked up to it with component cables and I thought that might have been the issue because it's only 480i and the PS2 only goes up to 480p.. in some games. I hooked up composite cables and it still had the bend. I tried a PS1 game and noticed the menus were kind of trapezoid shaped almost and the tilt feature under the TV settings didn't fix it ... maybe this will do it.
  • @eleckson
It affects the bottom too though it seems...so wouldn't solve the top without screwing up the bottom. Also, there's already a service menu control that does this. V-Bow. Edit: I was wrong - this totally worked and V-bow only affects the sides, not the top and bottom!
  • @MarcosFull
Isn't it something that can be solved in some way from the service menu?

    FACE MY WEGA STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRM
  • @lovemadeinjapan
Nothing wrong with the wega. Assuming it is Japanese, the speak vowels like if they are Dutch (easy prompt for me), so it is correct. The only thing I can think of is that the second syllable gets the emphasis.
