Glad to see all the positive reception for this video! We are VERY excited to do more videos like this! We did however make a small mistake. The Buccaneers owners name when they come up in 1976 – we said Hugh Culverson – and it’s Culverhouse. We are sorry about the error!

I like how most of the names are just meant to confuse baseball fans into liking them

Welcome to the 200th anniversary of the NFL, where we now have 96 teams and Tom Brady is almost retired
  • I never knew that football had such a strong connection with baseball.

I would really like videos like this for the NBA, MLB, and the NHL.
  • @sportsman526
And now the NFL has a team literally named the Football Team.

Most teams: has a naming contest, picks an inspiring, culturally relevant name The Jets: Hey look, an airport!

14:45 - Cleveland Browns only team named after a person (Paul Brown). But they weren't the only team named after a person... 18:45 - Buffalo Bills named after after "Buffalo" Bill Cody.

Being from a small city of what which used to be one the biggest cities in Ohio, Portsmouth, the portsmouth Spartans are still a pretty important part of our history here. We have a 3 mile flood wall with murals of our history and that football team holds like 3 spaces on it. The portsmouth high school even call themselves the Spartans and they play in the Spartan stadium. Being from such a small place, it’s weird hearing people talk about it haha

“Don’t be scared, there’s no such thing as the steagles” The Steagles:
  • Ah yes, my favorite football teams; the St Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, New York Giants (now SF in MLB), the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Braves (now ATL in MLB, WFT), Pittsburgh Pirates (Steelers) and the Brooklyn Dodgers (LA in MLB)

Thanks for this informative video. I'm in the UK and only recently have I gained an interest for the sport. I thought that learning about the history of the NFL would help me in choosing which team to support. I've settled with the Falcons as I like the animal, and was made when my dad was born, so it will be easy to remember when they started.

Me: I might head to bed now. YouTube: Wanna know the NFL history?
  • Am I the only one that thinks this video should be showed in history class

As someone from the uk (who lives in nz) ive decided to support the chigago bears since my surname is staley. 🐻🇺🇲
  • 1934: "The Lions hoped to be the monarch of the league." 2020: "Lol oops"
  • @Alex-tq2eb
“the lion is considered as the monarch of the jungle, so we hope to be the monarch of the league” boy did that go well

It's weird how sentimental I felt watching this video. What an amazing hundred years of history!
