  • Future devil absolutely busting it down is still the best part of this opening
  • Animators: "How many references do you want in the opening?" MAPPA: "Y e s"
  • Learning that the director is a huge movie buff and wanted the anime to feel more cinematic and different was so dope Hope they keep him for season 2, sad to hear that people hate him for it

The snail at 0:49 is a reference to mind control, as the snail is parasatized by Leucochlordium paradoxum, a parasite that needs the snail for a stage of its life cycle. It needs to get back into birds for sexy times, so it takes over the snail's brain, makes it climb out at peak bird activity hours, and then shoves part of its body up into the snail's eyestalks and undulates to mimic a hapless caterpillar.

The scene in the cinema is brilliant! Just for a few seconds, you can identify the personalities of characters and some relationships between them
  • @megalo7058
There's something fucking primal about this song that triggers something in your brain to release adrenaline, and I fucking love it
  • @akimations
Aki and Makima at 1:18 is a reference to that famous comic where one guy (Aki) is looking at a wall full of flowers and sunshine, while the other guy (Makima) is looking above the wall and seeing the true horrors of the world. Manga spoilers!! This could reference how Makima sees the true reality of everything, especially with the gun devil and how she’s controlling Aki, and Aki lives in blissful innocence (at least in this season.)
  • @Luchin-san
It's worth to mention that the song itself has some references. For instance, the lines "doryoku mirai a beautiful star" and "shiawase ni naritai" are taken from a morning musume's 2002 song called 'souda! We're alive'
  • @otakat7433
You forgot the Mickey mouse dance at the end lmao
  • @chromedokuro_
Araki-Sensei : FINALLY A WORTHY OPPONENT! OUR REFERENCES WILL BE LEGENDARY!
  • @skarrin6207
0:52 Always makes me remember the Levi vs Kenny fight sequence the way denji slides doen the building almost like levi manuvering thru the city during the fight
  • @elementomega613
I like that every time Makima appears, there’s some sort of parasite with her. Whether it’s the vines, or the snail, or the wasp. There’s always a parasite.
  • I thought I was the only one who noticed the similarity between the scenes. I actually find it very funny and interesting they put so many Easter eggs into the OP instead of putting spoilers in
  • @arzyxmc
1:00 Evangelion is almost 30 years old it has already ended multiple times but still almost every show has a reference of it.
  • @shansheep8292
I think its interesting to note the name of the OP, Kick Back, is not only the expression for relaxing, somethign Denji does any free time he gets but is also something an actual chainsaw does. Everything about this is just so creative
  • @Germ6496
Lets not ignore the fact that they perfectly matched the back ground of the refrence
