In this video I show how to program a Honda key FOB transmitter so that it works with the door lock system. If the master power window switch (window control unit) is replaced on older Hondas, this programming must be done. On many older Honda vehicles it is possible to do this programming without the use of a scan tool and I show how in this video.

If the programming is not done, the lock/unlock on the key FOB transmitter will not work and there will be no way to turn off the built in alarm system if it is activated.

The official name for this procedure according to Honda is Keyless Entry Transmitter Programming.

Most newer Hondas, like those with keyless push to start systems, require the use of a Honda factory capable scan tool if any of the remote key FOBs need to be programmed, so if you do not have access to a scan tool the vehicle will need to be taken to a shop that does.

The exact vehicle in this video is a 2004 Honda Accord 2.4L EX sedan.

  • I laughed at the end of the video. Some guy told me the only way to program my FOB was to take it to him or an authorized Honda dealership. I was expecting this code to bring out a high tech device, hook it up to the car, and punch in codes. People are ridiculous for taking advantage of those that don't know any better. Thankful for you ! 👍🏼👍🏼

  • Worked on an old 90s Honda with single button key fob. Took a few tries but worked wonders. You absolute legend! Thanks so much (all the way from NZ) 👏👏

Thank you so much! I watched another video, but they didn't tell you to do that last click on the key fob. I was pretty discouraged. I appreciate your simple and thorough instructions. It worked!!!!
  • @leebritton226
Played the video and did steps with you thank you so much!!! Shame on these dealerships for trying to rob us by charging $150 to do this. They should do this as a courtesy 🤦‍♀️. Thank you so much
  • Just changed the driver side door switch control on my daughter’s 05 accord and was wondering why the fob stopped working. Your video is amazing! Thank you so very much.

I remembered this video, from a while back and returned to program a Honda keyless fob for my ‘05 Honda Civic. This is simple, to the point, quick & easy. I followed along with you in the video and got this old fob to work. Thanks!
  • @Vane555LOVE
Tried everything and this is the only video that helped!! Last step for me was close the door wait for auto lock and then pressed unlock on the key fob and worked like a charm! Thank you for this simple video!!
  • @siroos_
Was having trouble programming 2 keys- until you said that to program another youd just click unlock after the locks cycle, and that worked perfectly! Thank you!

At first I didn't expect result. Then suddenly my frustration turned into joy. Thank you sir!
  • Thanks man. I had to replace my battery in the fob and it stopped working after I changed it. I've been looking it up for days. You were clear, quick, and solved my problem.
  • @holyloktarw186
You are an absolute genius! I tried this so many times and it wouldn't work on my 2005 Pilot, until I followed the very last step in this video. I opened and closed the driver door. Once I did that, everything worked!! Thank you!
  • Thank you so much! This just worked on my 2014 Accord Sport that was stuck with my anti-theft Alarm activated! Super embarrassing because my alarm was going off the whole time 😮. But my neighbors won’t hate me anymore! You’re a lifesaver!

Absolutely works on a 2009 Accord Ex-L. Fixed a broken set of keys for $8, just needed a new case, programming it using this method was easy on the first try!
