I hope you are hungry....I brought the pudding! Pudding Stone that is!

A rock we sometimes find in Michigan is the pudding stone. It is a conglomerate with a quartzite matrix and quartz, chert, and jasper inclusions. According to some rock books, pudding stones are only found along the shores of Lake Superior and northern Lake Huron in Michigan. Thankfully for us pudding stones don't read the rock books, we are over two hours from northern Lake Huron and about 5 hours from Lake Superior!

Those are excellent puddingstones and that huge one is sweet! That's definitely a pudding, cool!
  • The little puddings are nice looking but then out comes mongo, he is the boss of the show for sure ! Glad you found time to do some rock hunting :) Thanks for sharing your finds 😊

Wow! Hi mongo! It's wonderful that you found time to do some hounding of your own! And mongo is definitely a puddingstone and don't you let anyone tell you different! Mongo is a wonderful puddingstone! He may not have as many of the red and black parts as some, but he has them and the quartz spots are awesome! I can't believe you brought back a 37 lb monster! That's amazing and thanks for sharing Mongo with us! Thanks CH!

Thank you for showing us your treasures. Rock hounds normally love seeing other rock hounds's finds. It gives us hope that we will also find additional "Gifts from the Earth". I, too, am quite capable of buying stones, but there is something very different about the ones I find. Those, the ones worth keeping, are somehow more precious to me. I really enjoy your channel and dry wit. I look forward to your next video.

I never saw a pudding stone that big… I’m saying that about the small one. Actually I’ve never seen a pudding stone before, so thank you for sharing.
  • @B29p
That was pretty much all in frame. Nice find! I'd maybe crack it open?

I love pudding stones , they are a little rough on the teeth though LOL We get them occasionally here in this area but nothing as big or as good looking as what you got there
  • @soul_adventurist
Oh my goodness that’s big! Hope you didn’t have to lug that thing very far to get it in your car. Maybe try smoothing it with an angle grinder if you just have to have it polished? I don’t know, I’m a noob!😂
  • a puddingstone with that matrix a shame it can't be tumbled i have tumbled puddingstones before with a different matrix more silica than quartzite but they still don't come out that great very hard to tumble them
