Israel started the conflicts a couple thousand years ago via Moses and Joshua. It was exacerbated by Westerners in 1948, after the end of WW2, when Israel/Jews were given Gaza/Palestinian land by people who didn't live there or rightfully own it. It'd be like Russia giving USA land back to the Native Americans.
