Tropical Storm Debby floods southern NY town, sweeps away trees, structures

Remnants of Debby brought localized flooding Canisteo, N.Y., and other towns in the Southern Tier August 9, 2024, where residents captured roaring creeks and waterways sweeping away anything in the path. Steuben County was ground zero for rainfall and flooding. The top seven rainiest spots reported to the National Weather Service were in Steuben County, where a state of emergency was declared.
