With title update 3 we've got plenty of new monsters like Risen Kushala, Risen Teostra, and of course Chaotic Gore Magala, a returning fan favorite. But there's something unfair about this hunt in particular, that's what I wanna talk about today!

Music used:
Espinas Theme (sunbreak ver)
Chaotic Gore Magala Theme (sunbreak ver)

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
^The only game in this video, no crosscode this time, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't play it.

For anyone that wants to know. If one gore magala manages to evolve into shagaru magala, that shagaru will use its own virus to stop any potential other gore evolving into a shagaru in its area, making them a chaotic gore magala.

'Neither the monster nor the hunter has an idea on what's going on in this hunt' That's me 90% of the time regardless of the monster.

I like that they went the extra step to animate it also shudder in pain when its sleeping, really makes you feel bad for it.
  • Another nice detail with chaotic , one of his most common drops are large wyvern tears, he is literally crying the whole fight
  • You forgot to mention Chaotic's theme is Gore and Shagaru's theme combined. It has several of the mighty and "divine" buildups of Shgaru's theme, but each time it sounds like its about to hit that ultimate climax, the song falls and goes back to Gore's motifs. Further hinting at its imperfect state of existence.

There are two reasons I refuse to capture CGM 1. Keeping it alive would keep it in agony instead of putting it down and ending its suffering 2. It's technically partially an elder dragon so I feel it shouldn't be capturable in the first place
  • Chaotic Gore has always been a creature that you can tell at a glance is clearly suffering. It struggles to try and finish (molting? Metamorphosis? Whatever the right word may be) and yet is stopped, therefore entirely unable to complete the process ever again. Stuck in that limbo, on the brink of what it was supposed to become and now unable to reach what it was so close to. It's likely extremely painful to it to just exist in that state, let alone fight, and the best anything can do is to put it out of its misery. The one monster I'll always have pity for is Chaotic Gore, because even if it's a thing that naturally happens, it's still a terrible fate to to be forced to endure.
  • I find it pretty interesting, because the game labels it as a mercy killing and it’s not shagaru and gore are monsters essentially animals but chaotic represents a cornered animal It has nothing left to lose and nothing to live for. It’s in constant pain and that makes it unpredictable. It’s a larger threat not because it’s more powerful. But because it’s in pain.

As someone who's never played Monster Hunter, I understood about eighteen words this entire video. But I DID learn that the monsters in the series have way more lore/nuance and story-via-gameplay than I realized. Very cool.

I love chaotic. Even if we don’t get an afflicted version of him, to me he’s been one of the most challenging fights as well as the most fun. He feels more distinct from his base form than any other variant imo and I love it

The cutscene for the monster is the best cutscene mh has ever done
  • I like how the opening cinematic gives this image of a God that failed it’s ascension. Throughout 4U Shagaru is referred to as “Divine” even its quest name calls it the “Wheel of Time.” As if it’s a natural part of the worlds order. While Chaotic is what happens when the natural order is disrupted, it makes it feel like the monster needs to be put down for everyone’s good.
  • Rise is my first look into the Magala family of monsters, and after having first fought Gore about a week ago. I understand why people love this monster. And I do too. It is honestly such a cool, yet beautiful monster. Though Chaotic... I feel so bad for it and wouldn't wish that on any monster. The poor baby just couldn't mature fully and is in pain 🥺

Yea it's a sad story for Gore Magala and what can become of it when it fails to molt properly. But it becomes a similar story for many monsters nowadays. Such as Afflicted, Frenzied, Risen, or Apex monsters (both MH4U and MHR versions of Apex), they're all monsters have have suffered or are currently suffering and are lashing out in pain or extreme distress and the goal is to put them out of their misery so they don't hurt others or themselves much more. But Gore's story always hit hardest in MH4U because it felt like a deformity. It felt like it was broken and dealt an unlucky hand. Not necessarily by other monsters, like how Gore makes Frenzies and the Qurio make Afflicted, but it's own biological functions just straight failed. That's why it's sad. There's just nothing it could've done, and nothing can be done except removing it from existence.

When my friend who doesn't play Monster Hunter saw me play against this dude I told him it was in pain due to failed transformation. I described it to him as follows: "It' like having ingrown nails, but through all your body." He understood right away and felt pity for the poor bastard.

this reminds me of when me and some friends fought Xeno'Jiva in world for the first time, the monster literally was just born and already fighting but if you notice in the second phase, after it uses its giant laser attack, it will end up messing it up near the end and will fall into the ground to become stuck leading to a large opening, showing that it really doesnt know how to fight yet, and cant control its powers. but after using the attack a few times it eventually learns. compared to Safi which does short, powerful and controlled bursts and actually controls when it can use its energy, even being able to dip its limbs under the earth intentionally to heal them. really fun details.
  • people wonder why chaotic's stronger than a shagaru as if this isn't also a mature animal, just extremely angry, pained and pumped up on enough adrenaline to bring someone back from the dead
  • @Homophonic
Idk if u realize this but the thumbnail and title make it sound like Capcom did smthn that u thought isn't fair and are infuriated by it, like a dodgy business practice or smthn Edit: guys Ik what clickbait is lmfao, am just giving him the benefit of doubt
  • @TheUndead400
Also, I you actually listen to the Chaotic Gore theme, there is a moment where you can hear the creature cries in agony.
  • Moral of the story, always kill chaotic gore, release them from their suffering. I would not wish any monster to be in that kind of state not even my most hated monsters like jyuratodus or barroth (i hate mud armors)
