The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office released this security camera footage, showing Naya Rivera and her son arriving at Lake Piru to rent a pontoon boat on Wednesday, July 8. The two departed the dock on a boat, traveling north on the lake at approximately 1 p.m. The actress was reported missing after another boater discovered her son, Josey, in the boat by himself approximately three hours after they left the dock. Josey told authorities that his mother went into the water for a swim, but never came back up or returned to the boat.

I can’t imagine how scared her son was on that boat alone not knowing where mommy was. 😩

You know what's scary/messed up? When she parked she looked at the water never thinking this is the place where my life will be taken. Terrible terrible tragedy!
  • Everybody saying it's weird she took her son on a boat and there was no other adult. How's many fathers take their sons fishing and nobody questions them? I'll wait.
  • The only one who knows the true story is the kid. He might be young but he saw it all. So sad.

It seems that when it's a celebrity that dies there has to be more to the story. Well I'm sorry to say celebrities are human beings and every day human beings are dying for all sorts of reasons. This human being drowned, tragically.
  • The question is: Why is a Lake known to have low visibility, whirlpools, strong winds, cold water temperatures & a number of fatalities related to drownings, STILL OPEN to the public to go on pontoon boat rides on it? Shouldn't that be banned?
  • Oh heavenly father if it is your will let Naya's family get some closure.Amen
  • Rest in Peace Naya. 1 year anniversary of her departure. She was an angel on earth who left the world far too soon. God Bless.
  • She didn't leave on that boat alone, watch super close the person in black was driving that boat.
  • I dont have the balls to go out on a boat alone especially with my most precious cargo.

You can see a man walking his dog, he's probably the last person she spoke to.
