My version still sounds more like "Concerned Hobbits" but thanks alot! :D

Lol my neighbors are gonna hate me for practicing this song the whole day 😂

So I went and bought me a low D whistle, and every so often, as I am just twiddling around playing random strings of notes, I will hit a sequence that triggers the memory of a song, which I will then try and figure out how to actually play. This is one of the songs that I have done that with, and I actually have the exact same notes for the first 2 1/2 sections (that is as far as I got.) I am rather proud of myself for getting the notes correct!

I know I am but late to this video, but I wanted to express my appreciation for your efforts to encourage beginners. My wife bought me a Clarke Tin Whistle in D for Christmas and I've only just recently managed to find both the time and drive to give it a go. Seeing results, no matter how small, hearing the basics of the song under all the squeaking and missed notes is encouragement enough to keep me going, and when I manage the first section of the song adequately I feel a surge of excitement that I never have with any other instrument. I think it's the relative ease with which the instrument can be picked up, combined with the promise of endless complexity that comes with experience that appeals to me. So again, thank you for providing all of us beginners with places to start in your various videos that are not just nursery rhymes.

Wow. I just bought a Tin Whistle off Amazon because I was watching The Hobbit. This is one of the most beautiful tunes out there. And I always wanted to learn an instrument. I think I found the perfect teacher to help me on this quest, you are just wonderful! Subscribed.
  • Well, I’ve learned to play the guitar, the ocarina, the Kalimba and now imma start learning the tin whistle..... never thought I’d say this but thank you covid

I just bought a tin whistle to learn while we're all in lockdown - when this is all over I'll be an expert tin whistler!! :D

I love this tune. It's not a particularly sad melody but Howard Shore is a genius and whenever I hear it I have to stop myself crying.
  • This is by far the best, most complete version of Concerning Hobbits for tin whistle I have listened to... and I have checked a lot of them!

1:20 starts the tutorial *Thank you for the tutorial - it's simple enough for a beginner to relax/rest to.

I can't even get to the second octave without sounding like I am strangling a duck yet, this should be fun.

I love Lord of the Rings and the tunes. This tutorial is great and worth the time watching it. Thank you once again for your great contribution to make people love flute music. May the LOVE be with you always!

Awesome! This is my first tune with the whistle after twinkle twinkle little star, and you helped me learn it pretty quick! Within no time I was playing along with part 1. The breakdown by section with on-screen notes is super helpful!

I have one other music channel that i have stuck with for over a decade he is called Munson. He is like you and offers lots of tutorials but for the guitar. Now this is my second favourite music channel and i will be sticking with this for years to come.
