This is one of the worst gadgets I've tested in 2022!

Today I'm reviewing the wearable PogoCam that attaches to any pair of glasses to provide video on the go. It came out a couple years ago and was originally about $100-$150. I bought it for $15 - and it still seems overpriced. Be sure to read the Amazon comments on this one! ( geni.us/pogocam )

It's a minor point, but some sources say it powers off after 1 minute, but I timed it at 90 seconds, so I'm not sure why there is a difference there.

Hear me out, my cousin had the snap chat glasses that could record video and she once recorded herself walking up to and giving our papa a hug. Now that he is passed just watching the video is heart warming. This could be used for similar interactions. I would even advocate for anyone that can, do something similar, so you can experience those interactions after your loved one has passed. Sometimes it's hard to remember things like that after some time

The quality is what you would expect for something under $15.00, but not for it's original price.
  • @madizzle90
When the price drops 90%, you know you’re in for a quality product.

A number of amusement parks don't allow video cameras of any sort to be brought onto rides, but plenty of roller coaster enthusiasts who like to record POV videos for their Youtube channels get around that by wearing glasses or sunglasses with built-in video cameras. So-called spy glasses are definitely more expensive than the PogoCam, but you get what you pay for. I can only imagine how shaky the roller coaster ride would look if filmed with a PogoCam.
  • People claiming this looks like a 90s camera clearly don't remember how cheap-ish HD cameras even in late 2000s looked. I was there, reviewing tons of these for magazines. This is rather good for $12.
  • I bet it's being sold on behalf of a bankruptcy trustee. The 10% of original cost sounds exactly up their aisle.
  • It won't be until AR (Augmented Reality) is really nailed down that we start seeing a lot of glasses with built-in cameras, and camera attachments for existing specs. The new Google glasses with transcription and translation function is a good example of practical AR. Combine AR with a camera and you'd be able to do things like point at a sign and have your HUD translate it. Basically, most of the convenient sort of real world lookup stuff that smartphones can do, but without needing to fiddle around with a device. You'll be able to stay more present in the world when you want or need to look up certain things. TBH, I want a VR/AR dual setup with prescription glasses so I can enjoy media from my smartphone whilst laying back, instead of hunching over it. I could certainly use the live transcription function considering my poor hearing. Basically, the Oasis portable rigs from Ready Player One, preferably without the dystopia nightmare world.

It holds 3 minutes worth of video???? Really?? I wouldn't pay ANY money for that. I wouldn't even take it if somebody was giving it away for free.
  • @nans969
It is now $11.87. Free shipping for prime members. Read some of the reviews. Looks like most bought it when it was much more expensive.
  • @RockinRob69
Anything you attach to those alien glasses you wear is an improvement!
  • @mistx7115
Would not even be a good spy cam as it is not very stealthy.
  • If it had a built-in microSD card write/reader, even just 32 GB limit, it might be fun to use as a pet-cam or for kids or whatever. But as it is, absolutely useless landfill junk. sigh Once again, thanks for taking one for the team!!
  • @GyroCannon
You know a camera is bad if the audio makes someone sound completely different than they actually sound! (Many of the dashcams that James has reviewed are guilty of this too)

Reads the thumbnail: "Oh!" Reads the title: "Oh."

I bought one a few years ago at a low price. It came with some nice Foster Grant sunglasses. I quickly lost the camera when it fell off. I then saw the same combo for an even lower price and bought it with a different nice pair of Foster Grants. I still have that camera, and it's not much good, but I also have two pairs of great Foster Grant Sunglasses, so I figure I am breaking even!
  • @smoppet
What's the use if I can't read people's power levels??? I think companies are overestimating the hype for things like smart glasses. Might be better to leave them in the science fiction stories.
  • @ShirlBussman
Never heard of it until now. Thanks for the video, James!🤗
  • @davidwatson6472
It definitely is a far cry from the miracle product the Ice Genie. Thanks for the video.
  • The only useful part is the cleaning cloth and you can get those free at Costco. lol Fun video regardless. Thanks again!
  • @juxtapoix
what is the point of a camera that holds six 30-second video clips? i had a pen camera in the early 2000's. it had about the same storage capacity.
