Last year, I could smell gas at the street edge of the yard, about 80 feet from the house, I called the gas utility emergency number (911), and soon had a fire truck, cops, then the gas company out. They found that the gas pipe to my house had pulled away from the main line, even though I still had gas service to the house (The 40 year old clay soil formed a channel that contained most of the gas. They finally fixed it around 3 AM.

Truly horrific for everyone involved. It's terrifying how easily things like this can take place with a gas leak.

Lord Jesus, please comfort their family and friends.

The house was for sale. Seems suspicious to me.

Maryland has been having issues with firefighters and volunteer firefighters. No, a gas explosion doesn't mean that they could prevent it but look up like Charles County / Waldorf firefighter/volunteers, their chief resigned or something.
  • O dear Father, grant comfort and healing. So sad that there is loss of life!

Truly frightening, When My kids 3-4 I brought each to the stove and made them smell the natural gas. I did it multiple times with each child so they would know what it smells like and what to do. Its a unique smell and it dont smell like a rotten egg to me. This is why I hate stoves with that electric igniter and people that smoke at gas stations or leave their car running and pump gas. I remember back in the day the stoves that had the little pilot light.
  • So so sad!!! Wow!! That was major. I am so sorry for the loss of life and property.
