"This girl is 16 years old! 👹" "So am I 🤨" Honestly, what a great dialogue
  • "Who am I here?" Is such an underappreciated line in horror. Like obviously the people who know this movie know the line, but it deserves the same recognition as other famous horror lines.
  • To me, The Stepfather has one of the best opening sequences in horror history. You see him washing blood off of himself and shaving so you know he's already killed somebody and is trying to make a run for it but the shot revealing that he killed his wife and child still packs a punch in spite of that knowledge. Then, you follow it up with him casually walking out of the house whistling as if nothing happened underscores how evil just blends in and how it's often the people you least expect.
  • I'm not gassing you up at all when I say that this might be my favorite year for the channel(s) so far. You've been killing it with the behind-the-scenes stuff, Chelsea's been great on the podcast, and all your side projects have been a total hit for me. I've been looking for a sort of horror variety channel on YouTube for years since I wasn't around during the height of Elvira, Svengoolie, etc. and Dead Meat has been IT for me for six years. Keep on killing it!

"Wait a minute, who am I here?" is one of the greatest movie lines of all time

"I'm the kill daddy" is not sentence I thought I would hear in my lifetime

Absolutely loved the shoutout to researcher Bella at 9:48. Not enough big channels give proper credit to their teams as talented individuals, and I've noticed that a lot of the Dead Meat team has been getting a lot more shoutouts and recognition ever since the new era with folks like Zoran and Chelsea hosting their own episodes and the intro including the "and show you how they were made" line. Seems like a great team to work for and these all around improvements are certainly appreciated.

That "She's an Angel" quote from TMBG was a fucking deep cut.
  • The thing O'Quinn understood is that the Stepfather, despite his actions, is ultimately a tragic figure, forever chasing something he'll never achieve because the "perfect family" does not exist. That scene where he forlornly looks at the other family shows the inner sadness of the character.
  • This channel means so much to me. Not only is this a Father’s Day kill count but it’s also my birthday today Edit: just want to say everyone that has wished me a happy birthday is so kind. I hope whoever shares the same birthday with me has a happy birthday too!

I saw the remake when I was a kid, ironically living with my own nightmare stepfather (not a killer, just emotionally abusive and homophobic), so I appreciate getting the chance to compare it to the original. I really like how it goes more psychological than slasher. That feels appropriate given how it's exploring the manipulative tactics of an abuser, how they wear a false face to ingrain themselves into your life, and only start to show their true nature once they’ve gained some authority and power.

Happy Father's Day, James... I'm sure Lucy is grateful to have a dad like you.
  • “We don’t have a father here we have a father who stepped up and killed” 😂😂😂😂

I love seeing the kill counts for less demanded films. Learning about the production is always even more exciting for some reason
  • @ashley958
My mom and step dad just recently got a divorce and my biological dad died when I was a kid so I’ve been really struggling with this being my first fatherless Father’s Day in a bit so I was really happy to watch this kill count and feel a bit better about today. Another great video Dead Meat team keep it up!

He was TRULY incredible in this film. I would argue he deserved an Oscar nomination for it. Plus, the opening? To this day, I consider it one of the most horrifying, chilling openings in ANY film - on par with the ending of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.

“Jerry you can’t go around killing your family” “Don’t tell me what I can’t do!”
  • @Milosbaby
I love that the psychological aspects of this movie were mentioned and discussed. A deeply sinister and flawed man, chasing perfection that we know doesn't exist only to find that he can't even make it exist. I also just really like films set in suburbia because the atmosphere is always so pleasant, but there's such a darkness underneath the idyllic setting. Thank you for another awesome kill count!

Happy father's day dude.Sorry about your dad, and may he rest in peace.
