Transportation in 2050 (Vehicles of the Future)

By 2050, global transportation will be vastly different than today. Vehicles will go electric and fully autonomous, transporting people around with no human interaction. Meanwhile, autonomous semi-trucks, vans and robots will deliver packages. In cities, buses and electric robotaxis will shuttle people around on streets and in underground tunnels. In the skies, eVTOL’s will also fly passengers around. On the ground, high speed trains and hyperloop systems will quickly transport people across continents. Across oceans, supersonic jets and hydrogen airplanes will move passengers around. In domestic markets, electric planes will do the same. In the oceans, electric boats and super containers will move people and cargo around. Lastly, in space, rockets, space elevators and space catapults will get people and cargo into orbit and across the solar system.

People in the future will look back at this video the same way that we look back at those videos from the 60s where they predicted we would have flying cars by the 90s
  • @Seif_Morsi
2000: in 2020 cars will be flying 2020: even planes aren't flying
  • @Vorexia
This video puts too much confidence into Elon Musk. The way to reduce car traffic isn't to "make it 3D", but to reduce car usage by expanding public transport while making cities friendly walkable and bikeable. Cars are the most inefficient, anti-human and costly mode of transport to exist in modern times, and we should make sure to minimize their use wherever we can.

Unless drones can make a breakthrough and be near silent, the widespread implementation of them is nil. The noise pollution of a fleet of drones delivering things domestically would be a fucking nightmare.

Way too optimistic on some things here: - Hyperloop is a highly questionable transportation concept in early development. Even if it proves itself to be effective, it'll take way longer than 2050 for it to replace high-speed rail (which continues to improve as well) in most urban areas. On top of this, The Boring Company still has hardly any projects to its name IIRC. - Gyroscopic buses sound like an engineering and safety nightmare that will become utterly pointless once highways see less use due to the aforementioned high-speed railways as well as increased bike / scooter usage. I hadn't even heard of gyroscopic buses before this video, and it's easy to see why. - While I love Starship and SpaceX, I don't see Earth-to-Earth as a viable transportation method once supersonic / hypersonic aircraft become prelevant in the industry. At some point you're shaving off half an hour of time for an extreme price increase, so at best it'll be an extremely niche market for the uber-wealthy. Starship to the Moon and Mars? Absolutely. Earth-to-Earth? Not so much. - While the fantasy for space elevators is wonderful to play with, in practice they'll already be obsolete by ~2030 if Starship achieves mass production & low operating cost. At the end of the day, same problem as the gyroscopic bus except magnified tenfold.
  • @jonatanborowicz
Tbh Idont believe even 10% of this would actually be implemented and successfull
  • I think Hyperloops and the tunnels of the boring company are very inefficient compared to high speed rail and conventional metros I also expect hyperloops to be highly expensive
  • A lot of these are not going to happen - they're mostly just marketing stunts. Like the rocket city-to-city travel (way too inefficient, unsafe, not actually that much faster if you include boarding/unboarding), flying cars/taxis (way too inefficient, unsafe), hyperloop (unpractical, too expensive), space elevator (way too dangerous/accident prone).

I like how he talks with such confidence as if he came from the future and is 100% sure.

2050: New means of transportation taking people from one continent to another in a matter of minutes. Viruses: What a wonderful time to be alive!
  • Overwhelmingly optimistic. Change of modes of mass transportation will be slow and not universal access the globe.
  • @nevreiha
I dont know about the boring company, it just seems like a waste of space excuse for a metro subway that only rich people can afford to use
  • @Patfan91
I sure hope this happens in my lifetime.
  • @BenConsolegamer
I HAVE FOUND THAT 1 channel that quenches all my "of the future is going to be awesome" thirst. Amazing content my bro, loving it!
  • You could talk about the Spanish high speed railway, their future projects and the problems and benefits of of the railway
  • @mooreporch7208
Because of the economic crisis and the rate of unemployment, now is the best time to invest and make money 💯
