The Expansion Bungie Wants You to Forget About is about Destiny 1's Rise of Iron expansion. Welcome to the expansion that Bungie wants you to forget about for some reason? So.. what did Rise of Iron do to piss Bungie off? Why does Bungie want you to forget about this dlc? If you’ve played Destiny for a long time you would know that Bungie loves to place references and call backs to dlc’s, bosses, especially to its most memorable times, but almost nowhere is Rise of Iron acknowledged or referenced. Saladin calls us young wolf in Destiny 2 even though by the end of this story we become iron lord, siva is only referenced in the eververse and only a piece of dead siva is featured in the felwinter mission that is no longer in the game. Most recently when Bungie was celebrating 10 years of destiny where plenty of other trailers get played along the journey, see rise of iron came up and this happened..

This was where I started Destiny. It’s no Taken King or Forsaken, but Rise of Iron will always hold a special place for me.

This DLC was amazing. It feels like it was forgotten by Bungie which really is a shame. So many fun things to enjoy, and it bled into Age of Triumph so well to end the game in a brilliant way

One of my favorite things in this expansion was the artifacts. People who didn't play won't realize that you could get the ability to temporarily turn enemies friendly. You could literally be cornered and about to die, then melee a wizard, a knight and an ogre and they would fight for you. Such an underrated ability. Something I wished the warlock could still do. A type of possession/necromancy

the pain of knowing how much this concept of siva and riso of iron had and how much they ignore this story.... the potential siva had was the same as the flood from halo
  • @Dominionthayde
I loved Raise of Iron so much. The story was baller, raid was amazing, everything about it kicked as. I loved being an Iron Lord
  • @slain1930
I’ll continue to say this till the end of time. They wrote in SIVA without longevity in mind. With SIVA we would just win and we would have learned through colonization records about many locations including neomuna which was built by SIVA years earlier then we did.
  • @silverspectre527
Veteran Characters are called Young Wolf as since that's the nickname we were given, it has nothing to do with the title. Anyone Saladin deems can be an Iron Lord, but Young Wolf is specific to the player character

Rise of Iron was a return to form for Destiny IMO, the way it blended the changes between Taken king and Age of Triumph was amazing and it had a bunch of cool content, especially the raid, definitely one of the best in the franchise.

As someone who played destiny 1 for the first time very recently I must say the final mission in rise of iron wAs VERY scary to play through especially alone and the way the dead iron lords body’s just flew up into the ceiling was very disturbing to say the least
  • @ThatArgonaut
The Rise of Iron main theme is one of the few pieces of music not just in Destiny, but all music in general that brings a literal tear to my eye. What a time to be a Destiny player.
  • @DarkSpartan765
I know Taken King is always the expansion everyone thinks of for D1, but Rise of Iron was just peak D1 for me. Age of Triumph, Wrath, SRL, the amazing exotic quest/puzzle for Outbreak.... god it was a fun time.
  • @anthonyknight403
ROI was one of the best expansions. Beautiful Lore heavy story, Fellwinters peak as an alternative to the tower, SIVA as an enemy variant, Plaguelands was awesome, forge, WRATH, outbreak prime, Triumph. It was such a quality expansion put together so well. I'd love for them to find a way to tie this back and replay/re-imagine this all of this in D2. The inspiration they took from Game of Thrones at the time... WinterFell (FellWinter) and the wolves there as a nod to House Stark. It had it all man
  • @roobeedooo
not to mention how awesome the social space was! you could not only climb to the top of felwinter's peak, but there was a CRAZY long path down the mountain as well
  • My 2nd favorite expansion in all of destiny. I have soooo much nostalgia for this era of destiny. Staying up all night on school nights grinding the heroic strike playlist to try and get devils dawn, beating wrath of the machine, getting outbreak prime, climbing (and falling off) felwinter peak, listening to the soundtrack in between classes, freaking out when I finally got the nanophoenix ship. Oh and I almost forgot about the dawning 2016. Which is still to this day the best holiday event destiny has ever had. Sparrow racing, new exotics, fun cosmetics, great tower music, and the return of ice breaker (even though it’s overrated in my opinion). God, so many good memories. Not to mention the age of triumph update and the destiny 2 hype. Great times man.
  • The tone and visual design of rise of iron is my favorite in the series. Honestly I think it’s where bungie peaked in those regards, dreaming city comes very close tho.
  • @pjerdujmovic1308
This DLC wasnt even originally planned and its still better than most D2 expansions. How far we have fallen...
  • I've never played this DLC (or D1 in general), but of all the locations I've seen, Plaguelands and Wrath of the Machine are easily my favorite. I love the appeal of SIVA, with the area it inhabits being corrupted and uninhabitable. Also, the idea of having SIVA-corrupted Cabal or Scorn sounds absolutely badass.
  • @theskwis1222
The definitive dlc. The raid i played the most. Better than anything bungie has produced since. Was actually excited for this dlc. I still go back and play rise of iron to this day.
  • @brmawe
Rise Of Iron was a great expansion after Taken King. It made a lot of solid improvements to the game and added some additions that very solid. Wish we got more expansions like this.
