stormtrooper: Happy birthday, lord vader! Darth Vader: Don't come to the death star tomorrow...

I can see why Vader let him go, it wasn't a scheme to get power or gain favour. It was a gesture. Honest and pure with no agenda behind it.

I like to think Vader was so confused about what happened he just forgot to kill the guy. "Wtf... How? Who was? Wh-"
  • I like to think there are stormtroopers that are emotionally intelligent enough to recognize that Vader isn't ok

Imagine Palpatine randomly walking in and saying “Happy birthday Lord Vader” That would be truly terrifying
  • @Motolmang
still comedic to me that there were more stormtroopers vader vibed with better than any of the inquisitors or palpatine
  • the best part of the enitre thing is in the diary Vader really wrote "Look, I am your father." hahahaha everybody always says its "LUKE, I am your father" so this got to me lol

Bob is one of the very few Stormtroopers that hit his mark.
  • Tbh darth vader does still have a heart and feelings. So i can't blame him for not only feeling confused. But also feeling a bit happy, that at least someone wished him a happy birthday.
  • The trooper who showed more heart to his deadly boss than Palps ever did, especially at the risk of his own life. And Vader knew it... Palps, Vader's "only and true friend", who knew his apprentice better than anyone else within the Empire.

it's such a gentle, humanizing moment. secretly wishing someone to start a connection with him, but knowing he can't simply come out and say "today is my birthday" because then people would disingenuously fall over themselves to celebrate. instead, with this small token from a unidentified stormtrooper probably leads him to think "they... already know? they know it's my birthday, but they never bring it up. they don't want to make a big deal of it... maybe to respect the hierarchy? maybe because i never made a point of it, they assume i don't care about my birthday... what if... what if they care about me? what if they truly respect me? i should show them some kindness in return for this. the galaxy could do with a little more kindness." and that could have been one of a thousand lynchpins that set off his turning on his master in protection of his son. the idea that even the men he sends to their deaths care about him, maybe there is still hope left, after all.

5:39 Moving his hand towards Vader was extremely dangerous. He was lucky that Vader didn't take out his saber. He was going to do it, but when he heard Happy Birthday, he was shocked.

The comic seems to have been written as parody, but it really does get at something probably very true to Vader's character.
  • @Darth_Lex
Was that trooper a former Spaceballer? He does a pick in his hair.
  • @otsoga0105
Its actually cool to see that there are many kinds of storm trooper, some show fear, others show heart like Bob.
  • @shoken4421
Vader not killing that storm trooper shows that he had some good left in his heart ,that trooper will be remembered for all time
