Kafka Hibino is a humble guy that is part of the Kaiju clean up crew, but he dreams of joining the defence force and stand beside his childhood friend, Mina.

Kaiju No. 8 is set in a world frequently attacked by giant, destructive creatures known as kaiju. The story follows Kafka Hibino, a man who once aspired to join the Japan Defense Force (JDF) to fight kaiju, but now works in the Monster Sweeper Inc., a company responsible for cleaning up the aftermath of kaiju battles. Kafka's life takes a dramatic turn when he is infected by a kaiju, gaining the ability to transform into one himself.

Designated Kaiju No. 8 by the JDF, Kafka decides to use his new powers to finally achieve his dream of joining the Defense Force and protect his country from kaiju threats. Alongside his childhood friend Mina Ashiro, now a high-ranking officer in the JDF, Kafka navigates the challenges of his dual existence as both a human and a kaiju. The series combines thrilling action, intense battles, and moments of humor and camaraderie, exploring themes of perseverance, transformation, and the struggle between duty and inner conflict.

As Kafka fights to protect humanity and control his newfound powers, he must also confront the mysteries surrounding the kaiju and their origins, all while striving to keep his true identity a secret from his comrades.
