Liam and Simon are here with some hard-to-spot tech that’s apparently being used by riders to prepare for the Tour de France. Add that to what looks like a bangin’ bargain of a road bike, a road race helmet that won’t break the bank and the first innovative bar tape in years, and you’ve got a packed edition of Tech of the Month.

But would you spend so much money on a body temperature sensor? Let us know in the comments.

Decathlon offerings are absolutely worth the money.
  • @minimodelling
I put exactly the same gearing as that Van Rysel on my road bike recently, Rival shifters/derailleur, apex 11-44 cassette and a Frankenstein 46t front chainring setup. Absolutely perfect - about the same as an 11-32 range, only give up a 50-11 equivalent! Cool to see it making its way onto “mainstream”. Cracking deal it looks like
  • I asked Decathlon support team, the Van Rysel FCR helmet with MIPS will be available in July, at least in France. The RCR helmet is more ventilated and is already available with or without MIPS.

The body temperature sensor should be integrated into the chest strap of the heart rate sensor.
  • @WerdnaLiten
What about Giro tech, seeing as it's currently taking place..........
  • @RyonBeachner
Secret TDF tech? I’ve had one of these for two years now, I assure it is not a secret.

Does a dimpled bar tape trip the air and reduce your CdA? I guess so. 🤔
  • @JM...
I just bought a rcx, not the rcxII, budget bike, more clearance and cheaper, not electronic groupset but that is not a problem
  • @garryknox2953
If you thought the clip on the Core device looked fragile and would easily break you would be right. It’s too bad they don’t replace broken units.
  • @SteveCyclistNo1
Left feeling that this was an intro to several products with scant detail. I know we live in an attention span deficit world, but a more thorough evaluation on each would have been better IMHO
  • @scoresandflames
Mudguards? Just go for the SKS Raceblade Pro XL, for around 35 EUR they're unbeatable.
  • @mikkelhenriksen
42*11-42T seems a little small for road even for entrylevel. 2buy would be more functional
  • @BikeLife154
The VanRysel looks decent, but a 1x with what looks like a 10-44t cassette is not a road groupset. I have that setup on my Revolt and it is awful for road. So, immediately you'd need to change the groupset. A 105 2x group would've been a far better choice.

Please review the 3D bar tape - most of us viewers are likely yo buy a pair of tape rather than a new bike.
  • @belizon
Please stop with the "kind of" and 'kind of like". 😮
