Nestled high in the Colorado Rockies, the town of Ouray was one of the prettiest little towns that I traveled through while driving cross-country after graduating from West Point in 1976. Buildings were reminiscent of Swiss chalets because of their high snow-shedding roof slopes. The air and water seemed so fresh and clean. The town was set in a valley, so the Rocky Mountains towered over both sides of the town. The sky was so blue it seemed to go on forever. Even the sunshine seemed to sparkle. EDIT: Taking a look via Google Maps, the town has grown quite a bit. Still appears to be a nice place to live, just not the quaint little village that I remember.

I hear they are changing the town name to Awry.
