NEC Accusync 71V Retro Gaming LCD Monitor - Amiga - X68000 Tested !

Published 2016-04-15
There are a few LCD monitors out there that support a 15khz Signal. This monitor is the NEC Accusync 71v - i picked this up NOS and it not only supports 15khz and 31khz but it supports 24khz too!

We review this monitor and see how it fares with my Amiga A1200 and Sharp X68000 retro computers being thrown at it. Enjoy folks and let me know in the comments below if you have any questions about this video!

These monitors are fantastic. I use this monitor when I transport my X68000 to local events.

Really good spot, I think the response is 8ms which is still not great compared to CRT but it's a great compromise. Thanks!

Got one a couple weeks ago for use as a replacement RGB monitor with my Tandy Color Computer 3. Works like a charm.

Thanks man! I found one of these in the UK and I`m over the moon with it. Been struggling with a sony trinitron 14" crt for so long. All I need now is a little sound bar as the built in speakers are what you`d expect.

Hey that was my first LCD monitor! the drawback is that the draw speed of it is pretty low, as well as the viewing angles.... anyway, this is how I remember it....

Thanks for ths review, I think I just scored one of these on local listings! Can you tell me, would RGB-VGA work from an Amiga 500+? New subscriber... great channel!

How about 29khz DBPal and 31khz Multiscan ? Do they work as well 15khz pal mode ?

Realize this is an old video, but feel the need to comment anyway... I would recommend people to look up BenQ BL912 if they cannot get hold of NEC Accusync 71V. I found out about BenQ BL912 from a site dedicated to listing modern flat screens capable of 15kHz, and it was listed as "full" support. It's still on the market so not old, and it have a 5:4 aspect ratio, I bought one and can't be happier with it. Have tested it with fast games like Pinball Dreams (the ball is fast) and I cannot detect any ghosting.

Managed to get a hold of one these screens and got it running with my Amiga. So far so good besides very thin lines going up and down. All other computers are fine and this Amiga is fine with other monitors as well. Any thoughts for an easy fix Modern Vintage Gamer? thanks in advance!

@Modern Vintage Gamer, where did you buy this monitor from? I've been looking for the last 3 months for a monitor for my Amiga V600, i've added all the Dell ones I know that are compatible to my eBay searches but they are way to expensive.
  • @The8BitGuy
Any chance it has composite ports as well?
  • @ibd1977
I've got Dell LCD wide screens hooked up to both my A500 & A1200 and not a problem. Dell monitors work well with old tech,
