Update on the two "direct ship" Belgian Draft horse mares saved last week because of your support

Episode 90
Last week two Belgian Draft horse mares were on the "direct ship" list at Bowie Texas Livestock. We did an emergency fundraiser for their bail and transport and because of all of your support and generosity we were able to save both of the horses! Both mares were in rough shape and needed medical attention as soon as possible.

This video is an update on how they are doing after we picked them up from the livestock yard, their names revealed, their first week on the farm and how they are doing after seeing Dr. Waggoner at Mobile Veterinary Practice.

Ava, another rescued Belgian Draft horse also went to the vet. Ava was rescued a few months ago before my accident. Both Ava and one of the new girls are going to need surgery to remove the tumors they have in their eyes.

We would like to send a huge shout out to Zoetis and Mobile Veterinary Practice for supporting our herd with donated vaccines for all the horses and donkeys. We truly appreciate your support!

As mentioned in this video we are doing another fundraiser for the medical bills for all three horses. If you can help support this fundraiser we would greatly appreciate your continued support!

Fundraiser for medical can be found at www.bighooffoundation.org

As a growing horse rescue group, we rely on monetary donations to keep the organization moving forward. The Big Hoof Foundation will always be transparent with how your donations are used. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to the rescued horses' bail fees, transport, feed, hay, medical bills, medications, alternative medical treatments, supplements, surgeries, etc. Every dollar raised is for the horses!

Our ability to help these horses is only because of the generous donations from our subscribers and followers! Please consider making a tax deductible donation to the Big Hoof Foundation to help us save more of these precious lives from shipping to slaughter and provide them with the care they deserve. Thank you everyone for your continued support in saving these gentle giants! We could not be saving these lives without you!

If you would like to support us, the one item WE always need is FEED! If you would like to send a gift/donation of feed (Alfa Pro or beardless wheat) you can send that through our local feed store, HF & C Amarillo. When you call, tell them you are sending a gift to Fletcher Farms Amarillo/Big Hoof Foundation and they will add the gifts to our account.

Alfa-Pro is a complete pelleted alfalfa mixed with vitamins and minerals. Alfa-Pro is $17.45 per bag. They do offer a discount if you purchase by the pallet (40 - 50 pound bags) $16.95 per bag if purchased by the pallet. A round bale of beardless wheat is $150 and we are going through 2-bales about every 4 days.

  • I'm praying all goes well for both girls. They couldn't have landed in better hands than yours, Julie. And I'm sure people won't mind digging in their pockets to help with their medical expenses. So, never be embarrassed about asking for that help. We all love what you do for all these horses. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you for saving and giving them a life no one else would have. From your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦 🙏

You don’t need to apologize for fundraising. That’s the only way to keep things going for the horses.😊
  • Blessings to all of you for rescuing those Beauties !!! 🙌🙌🙌🥰

These poor girls have been so neglected. I cried watching Fiona accept affection, maybe the first kind hand that ever touched her.

So happy these two Belgians were saved and keeping good thoughts for all 3 that went to the vet.
  • Every time you rescue a horse and then have to take them off the ranch for medical care, I always want to reassure them that they are coming back. They have been through so much I don't want them to be scared anymore. Thank you for all you do to give them better lives.

  • Glad these girls were rescued by Fletcher Farms 😃🐴❤️ Keep up the great work you do in providing these gentle giants with the best retirement possible.
  • You are so kind and gentle with these horses Julie, you make me tear up . I'm sure it's the first time they've ever had a gentle hand on them....
  • @propertylady57
WOW that is quite a herd you have built. Just beautiful! That swollen leg looks so painful, poor baby. I always thought it was cruel to cut their tails. As many flies that are on them they need a long tail to swoosh them away.
  • Welcome to the tribe, Pearl and Fiona. Prayers for the surgeries, ongoing cancer treatments, and acuppuncture etc. So glad the new girls were able to be at the vet together and side-by-side, too. A huge thank you for all who participated in the fundraiser, past and present. Also, a huge thank you to Zoetis for the vaccine donations. Appreciate the names put up on the screen. Love your videos and updates. So excited for Pateron.
  • I haven't been watching your channel very long, but seeing the direct ship fundraiser being complete when I saw the video 2 hours after it was posted was heart warming! Wishing them good health and a happy retirement!
